Tales of the Tape: vs. Philadelphia Flyers 1/24/08

No surprise that gloves were dropped during this game, is there?  The Pens break a dry-spell (fighting wise) in their loss to the Flyers.  Can you guess who went first?

At 2:19 in the first period, Riley Cote made the latest entry into the book of "Why the Hell Would Anyone Fight Georges Laraque?" and got pretty much dominated for it.  Sure he landed on top of Laraque at the end, but I have a feeling that has something to do with getting double digits of punches to the head.  Whoops.  That would be a win for Laraque.

The other one came at 5:34 into the 3rd period, when Philadelphia's Steve Downie - back from his crash into the boards, care of Laraque - duked it out with Ryan Stone.  I didn't know what to expect from Stone - especially against Downie - but he definitely held his own against him.  The only thing holding him back was the jersey on his head, but he got enough hits in for me to confidently call it a draw.

That brings us to this:

Georges Laraque - 9 fights (6-0-3)
Ryan Stone - 1 fight (0-0-1)

Agree with my calls on the fights?  Disagree?  Let me know!
