NHL GameCenter v. NHL CenterIce
I have a dilemma that I'd like some assistance solving. As I live in Virginia, I can't watch the majority of Penguins games on TV. Therefore, I'd like to get NHL CenterIce (via Comcast) or alternatively, NHL GaameCenter (via the world wide web).
Have any of you guys tried either? I'd like some pros and cons or something. I'm leaning towards the internet coverage as I can watch that anywhere with my computer (i.e. in class). I'm just a little worried that it will be choppy or laggy. Has anyone tried it?
I've used MLB.tv, the baseball version of GameCenter, and I was overall pleased with the experience.
Thanks in advance to anyone that helps me.

I have Center Ice but I tried the Game Center thing during its free trial period. I wasn’t overly impressed by it and I have a pretty fast connection. I liked it because it was convenient, as in I could watch it from wherever I wanted (I even tried it at the library with a set of headphones).
You’re also in an area where you don’t have to worry about blackout restrictions either.
If you contact them you might be able to get a free trial out of it. It’s at least worth a try.

You weren’t impressed because it was choppy? Was it unwatchable?

No not choppy but really slow loads before the game finally ‘kicked in.’ Plus, if there is a little blip in the Internet connection it boots you entirely and you have to start it up again and load up the games. I wouldn’t say it was choppy or unwatchable, just undependable.

I have center ice and sometimes have issues, but it’s my cable’s fault and not center ice. At least that’s what the y tell me.

I think Game Center is a big step up from last year’s Center Ice Online. The only regional games that get blacked out for me are Columbus and Nashville. The video is always quite smooth, and I also like that you can lower the connection speed if its not running well for you.
Personally, I’d recommend it if you’re fine with watching it from your computer.
I'm sorry, Mr. Hossa, but I'm afraid we can't be friends anymore. Why? Because I hate you.

Thanks Dunman. I think I’m going to see how I can get by without it for the time being. And if I can’t handle it I’ll splurge for a month at a time.

That’s another feature that I’m glad they have – monthly installments.

Well I think you can also buy on for the rest of the season for like $70 or something in February. Don’t remember exactly, but I vaguely remember commercials that advertised the second half of the season.

Yeah, I would think they would prorate it at some point. I know that baseball’s version get’s prorated for the second half of the year.
