NOTES

Don't forget to get your SPG Picks in for a chance to win a Penguins wall clock, courtesy of Carroll's Cove.com

Mike Zigomanis missed practice yesterday but will most likely be on ice tonight.  No word on why he missed practice, and I don't imagine we'll get any considering teams don't have to open up to that information anymore.

Sid and Geno together again on a line.  I called  Malkin goal last night, so I'm going to say Sykora gets his tonight.

I just finished reading Open Ice this weekend – thanks for the recommendation Frank! I really enjoyed it.

Sorry I wasn’t around for this one, I had company stopping in.

I’m glad you liked it. What did you think about that fighter pilot story? That was probably the most interesting one as far as I’m concerned.

The Hobey Baker story? I thought that one was pretty interesting too. I like that one and the one about Vezina – not people you hear about in that much detail too often anymore. (I’m still having trouble getting over the fact that Vezina and his wife had 22 children, and only 2 survived into adulthood.)

He talked a lot about the Canadiens – which I found interesting, and I liked the essay about all the old arena’s. I actually checked out the old Montreal Forum on Friday when I was in Montreal – I tried to imagine it the way he described it, but it was tough, now that it’s been converted into a movie theater/Future Shop.

Yeah the Vezina essay was really interesting. Amazing how he practically died in net. And yes, of course, the whole 22 kid thing…

It was also interesting how he depicted the scene at the Montreal Forum for Richard’s funeral. I just can’t imagine how crowded that place must’ve been
