Sidney Crosby injury update

Sidney-crosby-injured_medium

The all too memorable and nauseating sight from last season...

As of right now here is your Sidney Crosby injury update: there is no update.  At least, that's the case in terms of what the injury is and how long he might be out of the lineup.

The Penguins' website has him in the starting lineup for tonight's game against the Blues, although they do state he is listed as day-today.  I will admit, as big a Penguins fan as I may be (obviously), this line struck me as slightly pompous, if not a bit reminiscent of second grade playground banter:

If he can’t play, then the Penguins will have to overcome losing the best player in the world.

Hey, it got a chuckle out of me.

Keep checking back today on Sid's status.  When I get some info I'll be sure to post it.  As of right now, I don't think it's a stretch to assume Sid won't be playing tonight.  Even if he is slightly injured, perhaps even just dinged up, I'd rather see him sit out, heal up and prep for the team's return to home ice.  Whats your take?

Everybody may not agree with this, but Sid has been struggling a bit and just doesn’t seem to be connecting on his passes. Behind the backers miss and cause breakouts the other way, probally just happening because everyone is struggling, but hopefully this injury is not serious.

I will not agree with this :-)

I think his passing has been dead on. There’s not much more he can do for some of those guys other than put the puck in the net himself. Unfortunately he’s not doing that either.

Perhaps he’s being more erratic with his passes, which is something I will agree with. But he’s definitely going tape to tape when it really counts. But as seen in the Capitals game, he’s also screwing up when it really counts.

PS

According to Jonathan Bombulie the Pens called up Janne Pesonen

Wow, he expects a call up this afternoon possibly for the Blues game? I was just on that site like 20 minutes ago then went on your link and read it. Also saw it on the post gazette site. The Gazette said that this could be a result of Sid not playing. I don’t know but does anyone have to be sent down FrankD in order for Pesonen to be called up? I thought Minard played good and he was shooting the puck, so I would think he would stay.

As for me bashing Sid a little, I guess he could use a little help from his freinds, but some of his great passes that you usually see connect don’t. He should be a bit more selfish and start shooting the puck instead of passing up shots, sometimes. I didn’t mean all his passes weren’t connecting just some:-)
Luckily not anoher 10:00 game, cause those sucked.

Oh man I hear ya on the 8:30 start. I’ll definitely be around for this one.

I don’t think anyone has to get sent down if Sid is injured and sits out, but we may see a healthy scratch or two. I’m not 100% sure where the roster stands at the moment, but there is no concern for Dupuis tonight either as he seems to be on the roster.

Well we will find out when he is officially called up. But I would think that they have an opening since, even though Bill Thomas was sent down, and Minard called up, I thought they still had room on their roster. Come game time or sooner hopefully, we will know Sidney’s status and all problems will be solved.

Well no one has been sent to the IR, so there is a chance then that someone would have to get sent down.

I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say Dupuis is healthy, Minard will get sent down, Crosby will sit and Pesonen will play.

Its official Janne Pesonen was called-up:

However it doesn’t mention who was sent down so I assume nobody was.
