I pre-sorted my stream so I don’t have to miss the entire first period looking. I’m heading home and am ready for some good hockey. I want them to play pissed off with a vengeance.
It was pretty nice. What’s with the Refs announcing goals ala football this season? Is that a new rule? Or am I just behind the times?
Rule 714a – all goal call must represent that of a football touchdown.

I noticed football style penalty calls too, weird, maybe because people have trouble understanding hand signals by ref’s, you Yanks keep changing everything; )
Sweet saves by Fleury. Amazing how goals don’t go in when you have D working hard to help clear the puck.

Losing Scuderi for at least this game is going to have a huge impact. He’s one of our best shot blockers.

I’m not sure if I consider, Hossa, Zet, Dat, Lidstrom, and Holmstrom on their last leg. If that were the case they wouldn’t still be All Stars.
Eh, I was referring more towards Osgood, McCarty, Rafalski, Lidstrom and that guy who never plays, Chris Chelios.

I think they have enough skill to avoid having to resort to dirty, I think they need to stop being mindf**ked in their own heads and stick to the root of the game. Shoot at the net.
Ah yes, so simple and yet so difficult. Why on earth would they, what’s the word…“shoot?” Come on now, if the Pens aren’t putting less than 15 goals on net they aren’t really playing.

They all talk about the system, Detroit, Pens etc. How often do coaches switch it up? Why can’t they watch tapes and get a good understanding of what they are trying to do or what they will do? There has to be a pattern to it, a coach resorting to a same set of plays in each scenario. I know there are a million plays they use and variations of each, but surely even subconsciously a coach calls the same stuff.
Having watched the Pens for years now, I have no clue what the coach’s game plan is from game to game. Lemieux was often paired with a grinder on one side (Tocchet) and finesse on the other (Jagr). Crosby needs a sniper on one side (Satan) and a speedster on the other (Talbot, Kennedy). But even knowing that it’s so hard to say what they are going to work out on any given night.
