"Obviously, I disappointed some people," Hossa told the Detroit Free Press. "But also I have to look for myself and I made decision to come here, so hopefully some people will respect that. I just thought there would be something better in Detroit. I had a chance to play with future Hall of Famers, with guys with lots of experience, and that’s another thing why I came here."

I took care of the link for ya.
He couldn’t be more of an ass. Actually, I’m sure he could, but I’d rather not see that display. He did that typical renegade approach to a contract: look out for yourself ,sign on short-term with a team in good standings and hope for the best. Detroit don’t know it yet, but they will come to hate him for the 09-10 season.

Thanks for the linkage, I’ve been dropping the ball in that regard.
I’m not sure what to say about him anymore. I really liked his play when he was on the Pens, but he just seems like a monumental “me” guy.

Anytime.
Oh no doubt about it. Hossa comes before team in Hossa’s mind. Which is why it’s going to be so much fun to see him running around on the market next season to whatever team he feels can give him a cup. I’m telling ya, Detroit is going to hate him soon enough.

This guys makes me want to puke.
The only thing that makes me want to puke more is the notion espoused by the hockey-clueless media in the US that Marian Hossa somehow got the Pens to the playoffs and that they are now helpless without him. Psshaw. How about a 106-point performance by Evgeni Malkin? How about Sid coming back from missing 29 games and still scoring 24 goals? How about a career journeyman goalie stepping up the the plate and winning 18 games? How about Marc-Andre Fleury coming back from an injury and playing like Bernie Parent on steriods (sorry for the football imagry).
I would never say that Hoss was not a great part of the Penguins’ playoff success. One only has to look at his playoff stats to see that he was a great asset to the team. But some of the accolades should be tempered by the idea that he was playing on a line with a healthy Sidney Crosby. And as I remember it, he was not single-handedly leading the Thrashers to the playoffs.
A third thing that makes me want to puke, though, is the image of have of this ass being interviewed by the Pens-ignorant Pittsburgh media, with those silly sunglasses perched on his head, and saying that “some of us” might just have to take a pay cut to keep the team together and win the cup next year. Apparently, he wasn’t really speaking of himself.
