Don't know if you guys have seen this, but it's hilariously put together: A full-length song (and video) of remorse for Ryan Malone. Saw it at mc79hockey.com. I think even if I adored the guy I'd be laughing at this effort.

haha that was pretty hilarious. Malone was a huge fan favorite last season but there’s been some real gray areas since the whole ordeal in the offseason. He felt the Pens took precedence over offering Hossa money over him (which is probably true) and then wouldn’t openly admit it, but felt as if Shero wasn’t giving him what he deserved. I think the guy was a great player and did a phenomenal job with the Pens, but right now I’m just pissed because he’s getting me nothing as one of my late sleeper picks in fantasy hockey.

After the initial offer
was made to Malone, well before Hossa made up his mind, Malone sent a text to the Trib. The text was simply: “no love”. Then, in an interview well after the fact Malone explained that Shero made a very modest offer. And, even though he was willing to stay for less, the offer was very far from what he was expecting.
This. This is excellent. The song parody and the genuine spite for Malone is really on-point. One problem though: I didn’t know the Penguins were making history?
You know what? Even as a [obvious] Pens fan I was a little taken back by that. It kinda opens it all up for some jokes about, “So, is history all about going to the first round and losing?” Other than that, it’s a thing of sheer beauty.

The history thing was a bit of shall we say artistic license. Though if I were hitching my career and Cup/history hopes to a club, it would not be TB. (Of course, if someone were paying me millions to play hockey, I probably wouldn’t be here.)
Money aside, if I’m Ryan Malone, I don’t trust nor want to join a club that would use that much cap space on a player like me for seven years!
SBN now has a NY Islanders blog at LighthouseHockey.com.
It’s like an business I suppose. When you go into the club I’d imagine any player would want to get a brief history of the team. Obviously this was the year that Malone was probably told, “We have a new coach, some great veteran leadership and quality scorers. We need you to complete the puzzle.” Then they probably turned around and said the same to Recchi and Roberts, but only phrased it in a way that seemed like the team needed veteran leadership. In the end, I can definitely see Malone getting a trade before those seven years are up.
