NOTES

Get your SPG picks in for a chance to win a Penguins wall clock courtesy of Carrolls Cove.

It's likely we'll see Eric Godard and Tim Wallace switching in and out on the third/fourth lines.  It's odd to see but it's likely Therrien is anticipating a physical game and wants to make sure he has a fighter around if one should be in the box already.

Sidney Crosby has a seven game point streak he'd like to expand to eight.  In that span he's mustered up six goals and 10 assists for 16 points.  Average points per game?  2.28.  Nice.

You may also remember the last time these two teams met.  Points weren't an issue for Sid as he went on to net a hat trick and add an assist for a four point outing.

Sabourin in net for the Pens.  The Devils' Clemmensen apparently wasn't humiliated enough last time out so he's back in net for more.

Let's not let these two straight losses mount to three.  Rock it.

What was the other arena we were commenting on the empty seats? Disheartening.

by AngelaMc on Dec 10, 2008 7:12 PM EST reply actions

Atlanta I believe. If you saw the area surrounding the arena and how difficult it is to get there by car you’d understand why no one is there.

Like Scotiabank place. Well – it’s not that hard to get to, it’s just in the middle of nowhere.

by Dayna on Dec 10, 2008 7:14 PM EST up reply actions

The NJ arena goes from a highway that is five lanes wide, down to an exit that is two lanes wide and finally down to a one way street that is packed with, basically, five lanes of traffic looking to get to the game. It’s a nightmare.

My game announcers are 170+ years old and i’m sure they are either doing crosswords or playing scrabble while announcing, strange verbs for hockey.

CBC?

Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com

by FrankD on Dec 10, 2008 7:37 PM EST up reply actions

I’m guessing MSG. As far as I know CBC only shows games featuring a Canadian team in the regular season. TSN is doing a lot of that as well this season.

So you’re probably watching Chico and Ken Daneyko

This is not easy

I know the ultimate goal is to have every team covered on SBNation, but it’s a quarter-flip when deciding where to go for open threads! Guess I’ll have to visit In Lou We Trust as well…

It looks like players have noticed Sabu’s shaky play and are playing goaltender in a couple of plays this eve.

by AngelaMc on Dec 10, 2008 8:28 PM EST up reply actions

I’m sure that wasn’t Scuderi’s first career save

Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com

by FrankD on Dec 10, 2008 8:28 PM EST up reply actions

No, I doubt it. But it was a good one. The MSG guys just finished telling me about how much the Devils win way more games when they score the first goal, and are not as good at coming from behind. So keeping them from tallying the first one was ideal.

ok, time to put on our critical thinking caps, here we go, why not, PP- put out all the new guys, lord knows we have enough of them, see where it goes cuz at this point our team is playing keep away on the PP and forget that the object is to score a bloody goal. Next, a little less to the sides, safe and conservative, and a little more into the middle, warning someone may get a fat lip but it should result in a goal ie: objective of the game.

by AngelaMc on Dec 10, 2008 8:56 PM EST reply actions

The whole thing with the PP is really weird. That many talented players should be able to get the puck to the net. I think they just need more bodies in front of the net, and less tic-tac-toe passing trying to find the perfect angle.
