NOTES

Get your SPG picks in for a chance to win a Penguins wall clock courtesy of Carrolls Cove.

Interesting little 1:00 game we have here, huh?  As typical for these early ventures, I've combined the preview and open thread into one post, so feel free to get the conversation started early.

The Penguins lead the season series against the Flyers 2-0.  Of course, the Flyers have also salvaged two points out of those games because neither ended in regulation.

As irony would have it the Flyers have yet to lose during regulation this month.  They're 4-0-1 so far and will even look to add defenseman Matt Carle back to the blue line today.

It shouldn't come as any surprise that the Penguins will have Eric Godard in today's lineup.  If things get physical early, expect God to try and set the tempo.

Not to knock John Curry's last start, but Dany Sabourin gets the nod.  There are also some talks suggesting Marc-Andre Fleury will return some time this week.  Seeing as how the first game the Pens play after today is Thursday against the Thrashers, I don't think it's a stretch to expect that to pose as MAF's first game back.

[EDIT: MAF will dress for today's game but he'll likely sit as the backup.  John Curry was sent back to WBS but with two NHL wins under his belt.]

2-0 Philly. They are just dominating the attack. Malkin took a penalty less than 20 seconds in. Bad sign.

Philly’s goal horn makes my ears bleed…

You should hear it in person. They actually had to adjust it because it broke a sound ordinance. It’s something like four tugboat horns. It was originally more but people were leaving the arena dizzy. No joke.

Yeah, it’s a horn from a cruise ship. I hate that thing. I mean, it’s kinda cool when you’re sitting up in the waaaaay upper deck and the seats vibrate because of it I guess, but other than that, it’s ridiculous. Way too loud and it’s such a typical horn noise.

Back before the lockout we had a horn that was actually original. This one is just boring and obnoxious.
