We have ourselves a matinee today, so I figured I'd just toss this up early and get on with the conversing. I'll update some stuff throughout the morning as I find out the details on starters/scratches, so keep checking back. As always, feel free to join us here on Pensburgh for the game's open thread.
Alex Auld in net for the Senators, while Dany Sabourin will hold down the fort for the Pens.
Michael Zigomanis most likely a scratch. Still listed day-to-day.

Do you happen to know where Dayna gets those great links for the games? CBC is streaming but full screen is terrible.
You may soon assume the title of Residential Pensburgh Video Feed Expert

Tiara it is. I’ll see if I can work the design of a Stanley Cup into it as well.

I’m totally nerding out right now. I have some freelance work I’m wrapping up before 3 – i’m doing that on my desktop, streaming the game on my laptop. N-e-r-d.

True. But she calls me a nerd all the time, so does that make it worse?
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
I dunno. I am unsucessful at relationships. She baked pens cake, clearly that means that she doesn’t really think you are a nerd.
I just can’t talk hockey around her. When I start racking off stats or random quips about players she tells me to calm down, take a hit from the inhaler and relax.

And wow – talk about traffic in front saving a goal there.

Lots of traffic from the Sens around the net so far. Sabu is going to have to really watch those rebounds.
End this period. The Senators are really outplaying the Pens right now.

Umm… it’s a pretty small one, I won’t give you the name, it’s just a little dot amidst the expanse of trees.
Aside from the minor league teams in the OHL and QJHL, I hardly know where cities are in Canada. Next to the big ones of course.

I worked at a travel place for few summers and one year I learned all the states and their capitals. I’ve forgotten a lot of the capitals but I can still place almost all the states on a map.
I can assure you that you probably know more capitals than many Americans.

Damn. Sabourin is making great saves but he’s really getting dangerously out of position.

How is it the Sens can be so bad and yet play so well against the Penguins?
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
I know the Pens are good in the third period and all, but I’d really like to see at least one goal here in the second.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
I actually laughed at how that ended. It was like Neil said, “Way to go. Nice work.”

Fight checked, PP checked, though not sucessful, ok now goal, here is what i’m daydreamin’ Satan decides to get all crazzzyy, walk through sens and drop pass to mmm, anyone for a seet shot, top shelf, water bottle gone.
It’s almost like the best way to get the upper hand on the Pens lately is to put them on the power play.

and i thought the Prucha goal off the boards the other night was bad…

Even though I know there’s a curve rule in the NHL – you really rarely hear about team’s requesting a player’s stick be measured. What’s the deal with that rule? The player gets fined? The team gets fined?
I don’t know if you can just do it in the middle of the game, but i’d imagine it would result in a minor penalty to the team that has it, or in the event it is within regulation a delay of game for the accuser. I know if you do it on the shootout and curve is too much, the other team loses that shootout chance. But if they are within regulations, than the team accusing loses theirs. I guess it’s like making a challenge in the NFL. You get it, cool. You miss it, lose a timeout.

More than likely they don’t bother questioning things like that cuz you would look like a whiner and if you did lose the call you would look like a total wanker + whiner, maybe sorta ‘hockey code of conduct 101’ , like Tom Hanks in the baseball movie, whatever it is called, ’there’s no crying in baseball", kind of thing?
Ok, I looked it up. You can request that a stick be measured during any stoppage in play. If it’s illegal then the player gets a minor penalty and $200 fine (it’s a $1000 for a second offense) but if the other team is wrong they get a minor penalty and a $100 fine to the team. But a goal won’t be disallowed if the stick is measured after the goal is scored and found illegal. So I’m guessing that’s why it’s so rare.
They should change that part about the goal. I mean, isn’t that kind of the point?
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
I’d suppose so. Plus, unless you’re down 2-0 with two shooters left, it’s not worth taking the chance at being wrong.
PS – movie is A League of Their Own

I put off doing productive things to watch this, so I will be impressed in the third period and my justifications for procrastinations will be ratified.
I worked 5am – 3pm. I’m done trying to think and ready to see a comeback win.

I’m putting off a lot of productive things too, but I’m justifying it by reminding myself that I already read like 300 pages of poetry this weekend.
Did you guys see this by any chance? You can buy one of those crappy glow pucks on ebay.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Well, it doesn’t glow unless you have the telecast system which I’d imagine is much, much more expensive.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
haha the new Penguins commercial. “A great day for: woooooooo”
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
All right, time to do it here. Another PP goal, get us a tie and then the win.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Damn it. If not for Spezza’s stupid bounce of Letang’s skate we’d be in OT. Oh well…

On the bright side – now that Alex Auld is being amazing I will slowly catch up to you in Fantasy Hockey. Watch your back.
psh, I’m the king of fantasy hockey. No one is gonna catch me
