The biggest surprise
for me at least, is the Huet move. Not only is getting rid of him for a 2nd rnd pick disheartening, but Montreal is in the heat of a playoff race and they're putting it into the pads of rookie goaltender Carey Price. Really surprising move. Maybe Montreal will be in the market for another netminder within the next half-hour.

I'm
not quite sure how I feel about this one.

hmm
Giving up both a first round draft pick (and a second in the other trade) as well as last year's first round draft pick (not to mention Colby) - I really hope Hossa delivers. I hear a lot of yelling saying the Pens gave up too much for a "rental" player. What's the thoughts on this one around here? Worth it?

I think
it's a necessary move for a certified cup run. I'd imagine that is what is on the minds of the front office and players alike. Hossa adds to that where Colby and Christensen didn't.
Yes, I'd say he's a rental player for sure. The Pens are going to shoot to secure Malkin before anyone else next season, Hossa included. But if renting him out and winning the cup pans out, then this can easily be seen as one of the better moves of the season.

This move hurts
I'm not saying it's not a good move... but it just hurts. Armstrong was one of my favorite players on the team. I liked his attitude and the way he played the game. I'm going to miss his big hits. We essentially gave up 3 first round picks for a player who will more than likely not be on the team next year...
I would have been happier with a Hossa for Christensen, Esposito and the 1st Rnd Draft pick, and not got Dupuis in the trade.
I wonder how Crosby feels about the trade... Everyone knows how good of friends they were and that they were traveling roomies while on the road.

Ironically enough
The hockey media is acting like Crosby and Armstrong were forced into a divorce but are still madly in love with one another. It's pretty ridiculous.
I don't like when teams give up draft picks because I like watching young players evolve in the minors/NHL and really show their worth. However, I really think this was a way of solidifying the cup run.
Brooks Orpik, Crosby, Malkin, Staal and Fleury are also all number one picks. At some point, you have to wave goodbye to a few.
