Pittsburgh Penguins vs New York Rangers

NOTES
Big division game tonight - a chance for the Pens to keep moving up and stifle the Rangers' attempts at rising through the standings. Eklund from hockeybuzz.com predicted the Rangers will make it to the finals to play against the Sharks. It could happen...
But then again it couldn't. I'd rather bank more money on that NOT happening.
Hossa and Malkin need to come up big, and you all know Malone and Sykora are coming out ready to play. Conklin is getting the nod over Fleury tonight, most likely in efforts to keep him warmed up for the playoff run.
I don't normally predict scores but I'll do it here. 4-2 Penguins.

Our boys better pull it together if they want that top seed.

hi there.
so that prediction is pretty much shot to shit, eh?
by Christine on Mar 18, 2008 7:41 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
not
just yet...they could score 4 unanswered.
by kellyfisher on Mar 18, 2008 7:45 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i won't deny that it's possible
but i don't think it'll happen tonight.
by Christine on Mar 18, 2008 7:47 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
It's happened
Might i remind you of the Montreal 6-5 SO win? Weren't the Rangers up 5-1 at one point?
by FrankD on Mar 18, 2008 7:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah Frank
I remember that. Rangers are definitely capable of effing up this 2 goal lead for sure!
by kellyfisher on Mar 18, 2008 7:51 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
me neither
they need to get it together. Also, side note. Did you see Marc Staal block that Malkin shot. I love that kid, even if he does play for the Rangers.

like i said, it's POSSIBLE
but not very probable.

we shall see
by the way, this may make your viewing on the site a bit easier.
Even if you ARE a Rangers fan...

Finally
a point for Jordan Staal. He's been working so hard out there this season. Have I mentioned that I love the Staal brothers? Maybe once or twice eh?

Whitney
What the hell. Another shaky night.
How about trading his ass so we can afford everyone else
by killer93 on Mar 18, 2008 8:26 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Sell Whitney -
to keep Hossa? I guess it might be a possibility - maybe even up Goglioski from the farm for a cheaper and more adept D-man.

Promo opportunity for squash
The longer Connor James stays on the big club, somebody should sponsor every time he gets crunched. Like the subway sandwich of the game

Maybe in the Euro leagues
but the NHLPA would never allow that. haha
by FrankD on Mar 18, 2008 8:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That was pretty weak
even the NYR announcers seem to agree.
by Dayna on Mar 18, 2008 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
ALright - let's do an over/under
over/under on third period fights - 3? Over or under?
by FrankD on Mar 18, 2008 8:38 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
i
may have to say over...ruutu is pissed. i wont be surprised if there is a fight off the face-off!!
by kellyfisher on Mar 18, 2008 8:47 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
as long as
Avery is on the ice I'd say you're good to go with that prediction.
by FrankD on Mar 18, 2008 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
good pace to the game
lots of good skating, lots of ill intent
by killer93 on Mar 18, 2008 8:39 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs

in the words of another crazed roberts fan.......
WWGRD??? Cant wait to have him back!
by kellyfisher on Mar 18, 2008 8:48 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
might be back within the next 5-6 games
just in time to crush faces in the playoffs.

Delayed 1st intermission Entertainment
To Ruutu giving someone hell this period!

Avery
has the most assinine goal celebration ever.
by FrankD on Mar 18, 2008 9:03 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
whitney and sydor
should just sit. Bad night for both.
by killer93 on Mar 18, 2008 9:12 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I think Whitney
has been on ice for all 5 Rangers goals.
by FrankD on Mar 18, 2008 9:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
NYR feed
said they've been on for four of the five. Could there be a Goligoski or gulp...Nasreddine sighting soon?
by killer93 on Mar 18, 2008 9:18 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
if Nas can do it
than go for it. But I'd rather see Go-go than Nas if I had to choose.
by FrankD on Mar 18, 2008 9:19 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i do however
like your idea of opening up some $$$ with a potential Whitney move. That could keep Hossa around - but you'd definitely have to make sure whoever the Pens promote fro the farm (or take from elsewhere) can handle the position.
by FrankD on Mar 18, 2008 9:21 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
This is the point
in a game where watching just becomes unbearable.
by FrankD on Mar 18, 2008 9:23 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
deepest position in the system right now
is probably on the blueline. Strait, Sneep, Goligoski will be be ready soon. We can probably afford to get some young prospect and free up some salary by trading Whitney.
by killer93 on Mar 18, 2008 9:27 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I'll consider posting that up
on an off-night this week. See what others have to say.
