A Good Things Is...

That's only one shootout too many from being a true thing of beauty. Had the Flyers at least beaten the Rangers in regulation, nothing would have changed points wise as far as threats to the Pens. Regardless, it's only a point. The Rangers (88) move within three of the Pens (91) and the lead for first in the Atlantic.
Big kudos and thank yous go out to the Islanders and their fans. I guess the day following news of DiPietro's expecteded full recovery from hip surgery really fired up the Islanders. Stupendous work. The Devils stay tied with the Pens at 91 points heading into tomorrow's game, where the winner will surely secure first in the Atlantic Division.
For a day or two of course. This thing is coming down to the wire.

Hmmm
I have no idea what I just clicked on, but I lost my comment.
The gist of it was about the NJ games coming up this week, looking forward to some exciting hockey. Plus, a probably Sid return, so we might get to see a Hossa-Crosby line.
Also, Washington is so close to grabbing the 8th seed. They won tonight, putting them one out from Boston (but Boston has 2 games in hand). Can you imagine a Crosby-Malkin-Ovechkin playoff series? It would be a marketing jackpot for the NHL (although probably tiring for the players).
This race in the East is crazy, everything is so close. But it does make for interesting March hockey, which is always a good thing for a fan.
Definitely
The East is intense, especially in the Atlantic (not to be biased or anything). I think the anticipation for a Hossa/Crosby line is getting pretty heavy. They'll have to live up to expectations here at the end of the year, especially with as close as the race is.
Teams in the Western Conference have already clinched playoff spots. There's no such thing in the East just yet. You're right, these games against the Devils are HUGE. Sid will either be back on Monday or Tuesday - hopefully at the least by Tuesday so I don't miss him for the second time at a game I paid to see.
I think that
the Hossa-Crosby line is going to be getting a lot more press soon. There's a lot of pressure for them to click and play well. It's just life that sometimes it takes time for guys to click though, unfortunately time is something they don't really have the luxury of right now. A bright spot is that Crosby-Dupuis seemed to be working well together right before Sid's injury (?? what do you even call it?), so that's promising. We'll just cross our fingers that this line makes some waves soon.
It seems
like when the Flyers and Rangers play each other this year each team is at least guaranteed a point. ALthough normally the Flyers lose in OT/Shootout...
Which is why
it was exceptionally nice to see them win it in the shootout. Although, it would've been much nicer to see them do it in regulation. I'm banking a lot on seeing the Pens and Flyers tie up the season series at four a piece with two Penguins wins in the last two games of the season. With eight games remaining, the Pens might be in Conference winning shape if they can win five of them. It all comes down to what Montreal/NJ and NYR have in store.
