Penguins vs Panthers Open Thread

Pittsburgh Penguins (38-23-7) vs Florida Panthers (30-31-8)
In Florida at 7:30pm
Watch on FSN/Center Ice or listen online at WXDX.com

NOTES
Don't laugh - they've given the Pens some trouble this year.

Considering they dropped a 2-0 lead to a 3-2 loss in the last meeting, The Panthers will be out for blood tonight.

Ryan Malone has Vokoun's number - hence why we might see backup netminder Craig Anderson in net.

Anderson has stopped 93 consecutive shots in two straight shutouts.

No word on whether we'll see MAF or TC in net tonight.

Regardless of the case, hopefully we'll see a win.

A win tonight would be huge, putting the Pens up three points over the Devils.

haha

oh yeah - the FSN Pitt promo.  I miss the Colby one where he says "Ay" about 200 times.

so

how about Therrien calling out Whitney? Finally!

by kellyfisher on Mar 6, 2008 7:39 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

It's

what he has to do.  He always plays better when Therrien gets on his case.

PS

Completely unrelated but I had a letter to the editors of The Hockey News printed in the most recent issue.  THe funniest thing is, they printed my letter word-for-word but credited someone else.  haha My name isn't even on it.

thats crap! what was it about?

by kellyfisher on Mar 6, 2008 7:45 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I wrote

about how good the article was on Fleury/Conklin, but then how dumb it was later in the issue for THN experts to suggest Pitt pick up Dan Ellis in exchange for a 2nd Round Pick.

by FrankD on Mar 6, 2008 7:48 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

so

how bout Gary Roberts may be coming back just before the playoffs? I miss that guy! I was on some message board a couple months ago and some guys screen name was WWGRD. (what would gary roberts do) hahaha. cant wait!

by kellyfisher on Mar 6, 2008 8:03 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

yeah

I read he may be back with 4-5 games left in the regular season, but his real return will have the biggest impact in the playoffs.  Let's hope so - tey could really use the extra muscle.

by FrankD on Mar 6, 2008 8:07 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

they

sure could. although it wasnt that good, i was suprised to see laraque throw down tonight.

by kellyfisher on Mar 6, 2008 8:09 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

it's been a while

since Laraque fought - that's for sure.

by FrankD on Mar 6, 2008 8:11 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

why

is he poppin out of position like that? are we gonna have to yell stay in the net to MAF too? i certainly hope not.

by kellyfisher on Mar 6, 2008 8:15 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

goalie cam

always loved those.

by kellyfisher on Mar 6, 2008 8:29 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yeah

they're pretty shweeeet.  That was apparently from his WBS days.

by FrankD on Mar 6, 2008 8:34 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

they

need to get their crap together with faceoff wins. Shots on goal wouldnt be bad either. They seem to have problems with both often. I mean they manage to win games, but they'll have to tighten up for the playoffs.

by kellyfisher on Mar 6, 2008 8:18 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

The defense

also needs to tighten up a bit.  I think they've become accustomed to playing with COnklin and his ability to scoop up rebounds.  Fleury doesn't play that way - they just need to adapt.

by FrankD on Mar 6, 2008 8:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs
