Tiger Woods not a hockey fan?

A coworker handed me a copied article from the Louisville paper the Courier Journal.  He had an article highlighted for me that I found somewhat amusing.  Transcribed:

Star-divide

FINAL WORDS

Tiger Woods, when asked during the Stanley Cup finals whether he was picking Detroit or Pittsburgh:
"I don't really care.  Let's talk about the Dodgers.  I don't think anybody really watches hockey anymore."

To which former NHL playrer, coach and general manager Mike Milbury fired back on Canadian television:
"You know what?  I'm going to change the name now.  It's going to be Tiger Wuss.  Here's a guy that took about three months to get over a simple anthroscopic surgery.  You look at (Pittsburgh forward) Ryan Malone.  His face exploded with a slap shot last night - he's back out in 10 minutes.  Keep your yap shut, Tiger, or I'll send a couple of wingers down there - (Penguins forward) Gary Roberts - to tidy you up a bit, meathead.

Ah, that cracked me up.  Unfortunately, there was a Gil Thorp comic strip right below it which quickly sapped all humor away.

The content expressed in fanposts does not necessarily reflect the opinions of the staff here at Pensburgh.com. FanPosts are opinions expressed by fans of various teams throughout the league but may be more Pittsburgh-centric for obvious reasons.

He tore his ACL playing golf – GOLF. In case you didn’t know (but I’m sure you do) there’s no ice, skates, sticks, contact or cardio involved. And it’s funny you mention it, because ESPN did a lil vignette on Tiger before about how he shifts his weight and how that may have been the reason why his knee got messed up. Gimme a break.

This kind of saddens me because I secretly quite like Tiger. It’s easy enough to fix though, I’ll just shift all of my secret “sport-I-rarely-watch” fan-ness to Djokovic. Tennis is a sport I can get behind.

Also, did he actually tear his ACL? I thought it was just a tweak, some pain etc, not a full blown tear.

Mike Milbury, is he going to be heading back to the NHL? There were some rumours about San Jose on TSN.

Melrose and Milbury both back coaching. At least we won’t have to listen to them commentate anymore.

I guess it wasn’t torn then. Last I heard it was orthoscopic surgery. I’m not doctor, but that’s still funny considering he golfs.

Tiger Woods

I am certain that I will insult a lot of golf fans out there but Tiger Woods needs to learn to keep his mouth SHUT about other sports. OOPS, I should have said fans of REAL sports. I am sure that there are probably a lot of rabid hockey fans that like to relax and walk around a cow pasture chasing a little ball so Tiger should not offend these people. He just might lose a large fan base. It is unfortunate when any “celebrity” , because they have the platform to reach a lot of people, will put down anything, especially hockey, the best sport in the world. He only wishes he had their talent and physical fitness. All he does is walk around and he gets hurt. HA!

Well if you’ve seen ESPN’s analysis of Tiger’s swing, it’s CLEARLY the way in which he swings that injures his leg. Bah, so lame.

I’ve said it once and i’ll say it again – his career is hockey’s offseason.

At least it’s not the way he walks. That might be a problem.

Bring hockey back to Louisville!
