Penguins ponder moving Malkin
Would the Penguins actually consider moving Malkin for the 2nd overall draft pick from the Kings while ALSO getting Mike Cammallerri in the mix of things?
| Penguins ponder moving Malkin By BRUCE GARRIOCH, SUN MEDIA Thu, June 19, 2008 (on the London Free Press website) Trying to pry the No. 2 pick away from the Los Angeles Kings and get back into the first round, league sources say Pittsburgh GM Ray Shero has dangled all-star centre Evgeni Malkin to the Kings in a deal that may have included centre Mike Cammalleri going back the other way.Umm, what? While many NHL executives refused to believe the Penguins would actually trade the 21-year-old Malkin because he has one year left on his entry level contract at $984,000, the indications are that Shero is trying to find a way to keep Marian Hossa from going to unrestricted free agency.I think this is more of the same unfounded rumor business. |

I think they are banking way too much on this Hossa crap now. Malkin has more playing power than Hossa based on the sheer fact he is younger and has never been injured. Granted Hossa’s injury was a few years ago – but who’s to say the sensitivity isn’t there? I dismiss this entire diatribe as a farce and refuse to accept any word of it.
Cammallerri AND the second pick in the first round? Give me a break. They don’t want to start fresh again. They have the young guys, they have the potential – build off that. Don’t ADD to the young, unbred talent while giving up an already experienced NHLer. Bah.

Good God, no
This would be awful, you could argue Malkin was better in the playoffs (until the finals) if not the entire season than Crosby.
This wold make no sense whatsoever, malkin and crosby should play their entire careers together.
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
50 years from now in the off-season they will play wheelchair basketball together. No one should be allowed to separate them!

heh…well technically a rookie can’t make more than $950,000 in his first year (may be a bit more in the expanding salary cap). So if you could land the top three or four rookies, add in a few wiley veterans and top it off with an above average goalie, you can keep a team together financially and as cup contenders for at least 2 or 3 years. Granted the chances of that happening are slim to none, but it’s just a thought…
