NOTES
It's been a quick day and a half since the last meeting. A day and a half where the Detroit media has called Pittsburgh lucky, Red Wings fans unfortunate and the sport of hockey a beneficiary to an exciting series. Much to their credit though, they've certainly given credit to MAF. Now the Pens need him to step it up to an all new level tonight (scary thought) with hopes of sending the series back to Detroit for Game 7.
Rosters remain the same; Malone and Gonchar are both in for Pitt.

It's game time!
Time to see if this series goes to a seventh game or if the Red Wings clinch the Cup in Pittsburgh. Either way, I hope as many fans tune in to NBC as possible to watch this very entertaining series.
A buddy of mine in North Carolina actually IMd me today saying Game 5 was the greatest hockey game he’s ever seen. Granted he doesn’t really watch much hockey, but it was still cool to hear.

BUT… yes, I agree that was one of the most memorable games I’ve seen quite a while. It had “future classic” written all over it. Note I said “future” because I don’t believe in the concept of “instant classics” because that makes no sense.

Roy was a big diver because he felt he had to but if you watched any Sabres games this season, and you admitted that you didn’t, you would know that he had the best season of his career and he was definitely not a diver. If he did I would call a spade a spade and I wouldn’t stick up for him when he is a blatant diver. I used to get extremely upset when Hasek pulled that crap in Buffalo. I am a Sabres fan but I am hockey fan more than anything.

Adam Hall’s high sticking penalty was so avoidable, it’s not funny. The Penguins are lucky they killed that off.

Honestly
The officiating has been disgraceful in this game. They are letting things go that should be never let go and some of the calls that have been made are weak at best. It’s really a shame because the NHL had a bunch of momentum after that game the other day but if I was a casual fan I would probably turn this off because it doesn’t make sense. It’s been truly disgraceful.

To discover that because the local news is more important (and nothing has happened today other than another bucket of rain falling) and the game was moved to KONG 6, NBC’s other affiliate.
The NBC set is not only hideous, but “Inside the Glass” is the worst idea ever.

First off, Frank, I apoligize for my language, you know how things get when your team is in such a dramatic position.
Second, it was a series that I thought was very corrupt and I thought the Pens were basically being handed a chance at winning. I predicited a weak call maybe ten seconds before Hudler’s penalty. I think Gary Bettman is a terrible person, who is trying far too hard to turn the game into something too marketable. On the other hand, maybe Detroit had the clear advantage in calls in games 1 and 2, but you cannot win without scoring. Thanks Frank for keeping these games threads open, and good season to all of you.

It was an exciting series. I’m hoping NBC or ESPN picks up hockey full-time again next year. I’d imagine that’s the hope at least.

To be honest, I don’t know if I want that. The commentating is so bad, I really hate nationally televised games. I perfer FSN with Ken Dainels and mickey Redmond. An ESPN Thursday Night Hockey would be nice though.
Good series, and I am glad we won it this year, because when Sidney fully matures, you guys will definetly get one.

I understand Tony. About the first part at least. But from where I stand I’m just really tired of hearing people complain that the league is rigged and everyone loved Crosby, etc, etc. It just gets boring and brainless after a while.
But hey, congrats either way.
