Wow, that was fast, Frank! LOL.
The tombstone summed it all up perfectly for your boys.

Yes
I asked someone to identify which was a pile of garbage and which was the shooting of the Seattle Sonics....he failed.
That one stung a bit. Now I have to focus all of my left over hockey energy on the draft, it could get dicey.
A great season though, thanks for sharing it with us here in the open threads and comments. It’s fun.
It was a good time, no doubt. Don’t expect the site to go down in the offseason. I have a bunch of stuff lined up for the months ahead – interviews, book reviews, videos, etc. Don’t be strangers friends.
But yes – onto the draft; where Pitt doesn’t have a first round pick anyways…
Well then…
Onto the re-signings…

hopefully
we won’t be trading our 1st pick for a rent-a-player either..
Speaking of which.. now that all things are said and done… anyone want to take back the Hossa trade? :)
Go 'Stros!
we unfortunately don’t have that first pick to even offer. But hey, it says a lot for Hossa’s determination. It’s only fitting that the final play of the game came down to the end of his stick. Whether it would’ve been a goal or not, it was still interesting.

Well time had actually expired by the time he touched the puck. But that neither here nor there.
If we could somehow resign him I would be extatic. IMO he’s a lot like Jagr, except that he actually knows how to backcheck. (I’ll admit he’s not as gifted a scorer as Jagr, but he more than makes up for it IMO by actually playing any defense, let alone the great defense he plays.
I don’t think Pitt. not having a pick will stop my infatuation with all thing prospect related at all. I have to watch for my 67s to get drafted too.
Book reviews? I have some lined up too, what have you been reading?
Saved by Jack Falla. It’s a novel but it’s hockey related and really well-written.
I’ve also read Brodeur, a Theo Fleury book I found in the catacombs of my library and Gary Unger and the Battling Blues. Obviously some have their place on the site, while others might just get a mention.

Oh yeah – and the draft is still exciting. I don’t care if the Pens don’t have a first pick either. Well, I do care – but it won’t stop me from watching.

Well, if it makes you feel better, I’ll have my multi-part end-of-the-season fighting report ready sometime this weekend – and the Pens had a good fighting record this year.
I know it doesn’t, but I tried. We all love you Frank!
Bring hockey back to Louisville!
hah – thanks Dunman. I look forward to reading/watching whatever it is you put together. I’m sure it’s a stellar piece of fighting commentary.

Speaking of fighting . . . Does anyone else think that someone should beat the crap out of Pierre McGuire? I loathe the very existence of that guy? He’s unbearably annoying and apparently a big Red Wings fan . . . though I may just be reading into that.
I have been expressing my utter hatred for him since Game 1. It really has nothing at all to do with his hidden love for the Wings (if that’s true). I just really don’t like anything he has to say, how he holds himself and his head. Yeah I went there, I said his head.
FrankD from Pensburgh.com
I have no idea hot he actually feels about the Wings, but he seemed to be hyping them up all the time. That may just be that he thought they were playing better at that time, etc . . . who knows. My hatred doesn’t really have anything to do with his “hidden love” for the Wings either, it’s just icing on the cake.
But geez, you're right. He has absolutely nothing to say whatsoever. He holds himself to be the best announcer and/or hockey player to have ever lived. I think the entire idea behing the "bench commentator" is idiotic, including the on-the-ice pregame interview. If I have to listen to Sid say, "We're going to play hard and try and win" again, 20 seconds before he takes a faceoff, I might explode.
I have one thing to say...
I have more respect for Penguins fans now because after the game was over, the isles of the Mellon Arena were empty… because nobody left. Staying in their seats to respect the Red Wings results in the fans recieving resepect themselves…
Thanks Falc, at least you noticed. Someone mentioned in the Open Thread that Pens fans were booing Detroit. I didn’t see or hear it, but I do know they booed Bettman. Other than that they were on hand for the Cup because it’s one thing all hockey fans want to see.
I have to admit, if superstitions hold true, then I can never play in the NHL. I’ve already touched the Sacred Cup and won’t be able to get past that “don’t touch it till you win it” superstition. Sorry guys.

I heard from others that
they lost respect for Pittsburgh fans and even compared them to Philly fans for Booing Zetterberg.. anyone here see it?
I honestly went home as soon as it was over… I didn’t want to watch the Red Wings skate around wth the Cup in Igloo….
Go 'Stros!
PuckDaddy over at Yahoo said the following:
But the happiest discovery for us during these playoffs is how cool Penguins fans, by and large, really are. Not just the ones at Mellon last night who knew when to stop booing Bettman and start cheering the champion Detroit Red Wings.

Great run for the Penguins
I can’t say I followed the whole season that closely, but I did check in on a Penguins board (maybe the scout.com one) at the beginning of the season. There was a link to an article about the Pens possibly winning the Cup this year, and several posters said they would be lucky to make the playoffs. I believe these were mainly Pens fans. So, for them to have done so well this year, and still be so young, it’s really pretty awesome. Of course, I wish they had won it all, but I didn’t expect them to get this far.

Some guy at USA Today predicted the Pens would win the Cup back in August. He at least out-predicted 28 other teams, so I have to give him credit. He unfortunately didn’t think of Detroit in the equation though.
