Pittsburgh Penguins 2008/2009 schedule released - full season edition
Full schedule released by the Pens at 12:30 today.
Remember, preseason schedule listed in post below this one.
Notable games:
Season starts October 4 in Sweden against the Senators - not end of September as the NHL had eluded earlier in the year.
Game two of the series on October 5.
Then the team gets six days off before the home opener against the Devils on October 11.
Detroit on November 11.
Colorado January 10.
Columbus Feb 6.
Chicago Feb 27 - really looking forward to this one.
The season ends April 11 against Montreal. But let's not even think of that yet - and hope it doesn't factor into the Conference standings too much by then.

Pens have games in both Nashville and Columbus this season – both cities close enough to my hometown that I can easily drive to.
Still, I’ll no doubt end up it Pitt at least once to see them play.
I'm sorry, Mr. Hossa, but I'm afraid we can't be friends anymore. Why? Because I hate you.

Better get those tickets in advance. Some games soldout within 10 minutes last year. I was fortunate to get home openers last year.

I’m jealous. I don’t get to see any live hockey in Virginia. Well, not true. I could watch the Richmond Renegades, but that’s basically boxing on ice.

We’ve got the amateur beer leagues here. It’s fun nicknaming the players based on their performances. ‘Speedy McFalls-alot’ was a name that came up a few times.

Minor league hockey is awesome for fights. I remember reading an article earlier this month about a now defunct hockey team in Fort Worth where they actually had “guaranteed fight night” as a promotion.

The only thing I’m not too happy about is because they’re opening the season against Ottawa in Sweden, they’ll only make one visit to Ottawa for the season. Maybe a road trip to Montreal will have to be in the works.

Man, you better buy those tickets the day they go on sale then. Those will no doubt be beyond your grasp after an hour or so.
