Pensburgh Free Agency Day Three
Plenty of signings yesterday, but there are still a few guys out on the market who've been included in some of the Penguins banter.
Naslund - Jagr - Demitra
Not so say the team isn't happy in working out deals with Orpik and Malkin yesterday, but maybe we'll be surprised today.
Today's news
Miroslav Satan signs with Penguins - 1-year, $3.5 million
Ruslan Fedotenko signs with Penguins - 1-year, $2.25 million
Marc-Andre Fleury extension - 7-year, $35 million (not official yet - Source) [Thanks hockeyjenn]
Georges Laraque signs with Canadiens - 3-year, $4.5 million

Settling in for a new day. Hopefully it’s less frustrating than yesterday. Will this be the day that Alain Nasreddine re-signs?!!!
I'm sorry, Mr. Hossa, but I'm afraid we can't be friends anymore. Why? Because I hate you.
I’m not sure I can take it anymore!

Good to read. I didn’t expect the Pens to lose him, but it’s good to see regardless.
Thanks for the linkage.

This is a good feeling to have. I have so much more confidence in Fleury now than I did a year ago. He’s finally made a believer out of this skeptic.

I admit – I was shaky at the start of last season. And just when he started to make me a believer, he went down with that ankle injury. I think the best thing to come of this is not just the honest Cup run, but also a boost to confidence in every aspect of Fleury’s game. Fans have more faith in him, he has more faith in himself, and hopefully the team as a whole will have more faith with a nice signing today.

I still can’t understand half the words that come out of his mouth, though.

I bet that’s how he types.

Laraque's out
Signed with the Habs – 3 years $4.5 million.

When I first saw Satan’s numbers from last year I wasn’t 100% sold on the deal, but looking at what he posted earlier in his career (I mean like 3-5 years ago, not 15 or anything) he was a 30 goal per season guy, he seemed to take a big drop with the Isles last season, but being at the bottom of the league, I guess it’s not a huge surprise. Now I’m pretty interested to see what his production could be like on one of the Pens’ big lines w/ Malkin or Sid.
Sykora wasn’t all that flattering in 2006/07 either but he was diesel for the Pens last season. That’s the approach I’m taking to this.

Meanwhile...
I’m kinda pissy about how we lost Roberts and Malone to sign Hossa (who jumps to Detroit)...
But we managed to get back Orpik and Fleury so not all’s lost.
I’m not that excited about Satan either. His numbers did take a huge drop in NYI but if he can find his skates he should be fun to watch next to Sid.
That and I’m looking forward to hearing “Jesus saves, but Satan scores on the rebound”.
haha that’ll be a great Mike Langeism.
In other news, Jagr hitched up with Omsk – he’s done.
