Satan and Fedotenko???

Also today, the Penguins have agreed to contracts with free-agent wingers Miroslav Satan and Ruslan Fedotenko, both of whom spent last season with the New York Islanders.

Contract terms were not immediately available.

Satan has outstanding goal-scoring ability but has been criticized for being a no-show in some games.

He is coming off one of his least productive seasons, with just 16 goals and 25 assists in 80 games on Long Island.

Fedotenko had 16 goals and 17 assists in 67 games in 2007-08.

The Penguins are believed to have focused on those two after learning they would not be able to sign ex-Penguin Markus Naslund.

Well we got Satan . . .

I like the signing and here’s why: the two of them worked on their chemistry with the Islanders. Put them on a line together and throw in a guy like Staal and that’s a deadly third line. Toss a guy like Talbot on the fourth like with Godard and another big winger and it adds firepower to muscle.

Still missing at least 2 top line wingers then.

Maybe Jagr, who else?

Jagr and Demitra are still on the market. These one year deals are definitely opening up some salary cap space. Your guess is as good as mine at this point. The system isn’t very deep with prospects for the winger position. They can always fill it with a guy like Kennedy on the third or fourth line, but I’d like to see another big guy for a one or two year deal. Grabbing Jagr would make the team invincible.

Might take a trade to clear the space to sign Jagr though. What do the Pens have left after the Fleury deal? 4-5 million?

$3 million :-\

Not looking good then, unless some major trade is coming.
