Jerseys - White vs. Dark
Promoted From Fanposts - FD
You may have gathered that the offseason has gotten somewhat dull. And by 'somewhat' I mean 'very'.
So while we're all watching (and being entertained by) 'top' videos, I thought I'd take the opportunity to ask this one question:
What do you think about home jerseys being dark and away jerseys being light?
Personally, I prefer the original way - and that's why my Pens jersey is bright white. That, and it was a gift from my brother, who holds the very same principal with his beloved Avs.
What do you prefer?

Hope you don’t mind a few edits Mr. D, just wanted to move it up to the front page…

In response to your question, I opt for the Black one. I do this mainly because I am a slob and will no doubt spill something, drop something or brush up against something that will eternally stain my $130-$200 jersey (depending on customization).
I do have a white Jaromir Jagr jersey though. But I also have the old school black one with Pittsburgh lettered across the front for Lemieux, one of the black ones with silver shoulders for Lemieux, Crosby black, plain black with the new logo and the baby blue from the Winter Classic (which will most likely be the alternate this year).
Funny you ask this question – my mouse finger was quivering over a white Malkin one online the other night. A $110 telephone bill reminded me this must remain on the want list…
…for now.

I’m biased, because the Red Wings have been wearing the red jerseys at home for years….even though none of the other Detroit teams does that, and very few teams in any professional sports follow that practice, it makes sense to me, put your best looking jersey on for the home folks.
Usually (not always the case, I know! See the #1 goal celebration from yesterday’s youtube vid for a glaring exception), the colored jersey is where it’s at….

Well it used to be reversed, as I’m sure you know. White was the home color in attempts to more or less “greet” the opponent (I read that once, not making it up) and black/dark colors were used on the road as a clear indication that you were visiting. There’s even little things in hockey that play into the game. Like, for example, the home team can’t square off for a faceoff until the visitor does so first. It’s a lil hat tip for “thanks for coming” I guess..

Black jerseys. I guess for me it comes from being an NFL fan first, then getting into the NHL. The dark jersey is almost always the home jersey in the NFL, so I assumed that was the case in the NHL. I didn’t even know before today, that it was hockey tradition to where the white jersey at home.

USED to be Wolfpack. That changed. But even then they still alternate the jerseys so really it holds no meaning.

By changed I mean – the Black jerseys are home and whites for the road. But yes, old tradition had it the other way around.
