Fantasy Hockey - last call?

Yahoo opened up their leagues for fantasy hockey this week. Wanted to make another call for interest before I send out the info on how to join up. So if you're interested in playing just drop a comment and I'll add you to the list. If anything, at least looking for an even number of teams so we can do a head-to-head league without having someone sit out every week.

Even if you're new to the site or just check in occasionally, we'd love to have you on board for the fun.

Don't be shy.

If anything I'll try and swing one more call in about 2 weeks if we can't fill out the league just yet.

Funny JD – I was waiting to shoot it out there, but I guess if anything it’s a good way to gauge it for now. I will, of course, be down.

How soon will it start? I’d like to get in on it again. The last time I played fantasy hockey was about 10 years ago. I’m not sure if I’ll have time, but I am interested.

We can shoot for something around the September 20 range. That’s a lil into preseason and still 2 weeks before the reg.

Any preferences? I know almost everyone has a Yahoo! account, and they’ve never steered me wrong before. I’d probably opt to set that one up, but if you guys prefer anything else lemme know.

if you need a league bottom feeder, and were doing a league where you just had to set it once a week (as opposed to daily changes), let me know, I’d play and act as cannon fodder. Heck, I’d even take Hossa off of anyone unfortunate to end up with him on your team…

I kind of know how it works – just let me know what you decide to go with (yahoo etc.) and I’ll read the help section. Then, I’ll just play around from there until I get the hang of it.

It’s easy. You just pick your team and fill out the lineup by position and real game stats reflect on your team. So if you have Crosby and Malkin on your team, and they each score 2G and an assist in an actual game, then your team will have 4G and 2A. You go head to head against one another and at the end of the week the total of your Goals, Assists, PIM, PPG, PPP and/or whatever stats we decide to have are compared to the person you played against all week. So if you win in goals, assists and power-play points, but lose in 6 other categories, your score at the end of the week is 3 points. So you’d lose the week 6-3.

Yeah I’d say Yahoo would be the best for it. I guess if anyone else has any other suggestions that would be cool. I’ve done the Yahoo league before and my only concern with it is that sometimes they are a bit late on covering whether a player is a scratch or not for the game (kinda sucks with the goaltenders), but I haven’t seen better in any other leagues.

Any other suggestions friends?

I think I may wait at least another two weeks before launching it. I’ll repost this entry at the top of the page as we get closer to the season for one last roll call.

Sure, I'll get involved.

Like my fantasy football team and baseball sim league aren’t enough.

I doubt I’ll do well, but at least I should have an amusing team name. (Perhaps I’ll bring back the team I used during my one other fantasy hockey adventure, the Knoxville Librarians.)
