NOTES
Still no word on Sergei Gonchar, although speculation across the media believes it to be a separated shoulder. Official diagnosis from team docs is pending.
If you are tuning into a radio feed or watching the game on TSN, keep an eye/ear on Will Thomas tonight. He survived the cut and is making a real push for the team. The Tribune-Review published an article on him in today's paper. The Fox Chapel native may eventually fit the bill of the hometown hero a la the likes of his predecessor Ryan Malone. The Penguins signed Thomas back in July (Pensburgh coverage here).
For those in the Pittsburgh region, PittsburghPenguins.com is offering a live feed of the game. Those crazy, if not stupid broadcast regulations will only make it available to Pitt residents (IP blocking I suppose). UPDATE - PPP from Pension Plan Puppets suggested a Proxy server to view the games. Give it a shot.
Sidney Crosby will sit tonight with a sore groin. Rest of the lineup after the jump.

Take a look at that blue line tonight. Chances are we may be seeing this one for the start of the season.

Also, feel free to come on over and marvel at the future superstars that are Luke Schenn and Justin Pogge ;)

Thanks, didn’t think of that. BrowseAtWork is a favorite of mine.

From Empty Netters – The Pens are offering a raw feed from their website. No commentary – but you can see the game.

Ok, that was a bit of mis-information. It’s only available to viewers in the “Pittsburgh Area” and I have no idea how far that extends.

Will Scuderi replace Sydor in the opener. I would think if healthy he would. James in the lineup maybe its his year.

I think Scuderi still has some banged up ribs, but he should be ok. Sydor wants to be traded and he’s made that obvious, so we’ll see how Therrien handles it. Right now we need all the help we can get on D.
