NOTES
Get your SPG picks in for a chance to win a Penguins wall clock courtesy of Carrolls Cove.
In case you missed the updates from earlier in the day, the Pens will be without Crosby, Scuderi, Talbot and Letang for this one. Janne Pesonen received the call up and I'd expect Boucher and Eaton to be on the ice tonight. Bill Thomas will also rejoin the team.
That was the bad news. I guess here's the good news. According to Mirtle the Pens need to go 22-14-1 if they even hope to have a chance at the playoffs.
Breaking it down, they basically have to win four out of every seven for the rest of the season. Let's just hope for OT tonight and go from there.
JS Giguere in net for Ducks.
Marc-Andre Fleury for Penguins.

Ok, baby steps. I think we should break down the game further into 10 minute increments. Small wins in ten minute blocks will lead to sucess through the to the end of the game.
Me too. He nearly messed it up about 2 minutes in when he went behind to play the puck and a Duck was right there.
He has been doing that alot. I think he secretly wishes that he had chosen to play forward when he was a kid.
He said one time at a Pens media thing (I think it was the “town hall meeting”) that he started playing goal because he couldn’t score as a forward when he was a kid. So, maybe you’re right.

I took this technology and education class once and I am not kidding you, we had a lesson on “effective search engine skills” so I’ve developed speedy google skills.
Bisonette gets the win, IMO. But that was a quick fight! Maybe God will give us a second act later….
I would agree, Bisonette seems to sneak in quite a few fights when he gets called up. They’re really cracking down on fighting in the OHL now, making it a penalty to remove your helmet during a fight.
They’re really taking action after a guy in AAA Major hockey died after hitting his head during a fight (he was 21). I think they’re trying to discourage fighting in general, because the players are young (16-20) and my impression is that they just don’t think the danger is worth it, plus the culpability if one of their players were seriously injured. They have really strict rules regarding head shots too, it’s a penalty even if the contact is incidental. The games I’ve gone to were still physical though, even though a lot of people thought that it would “ruin the physical game.” I can’t help but wonder though if more and more junior leagues start to crack down on fighting if the NHL will eventually too.
I heard, WHL was ticked because they think that all the minor leagues should have come together for a decision like that. I also heard that fighting will become obsolete in time due to insurance companies raising their premiums if there is fighting allowed.
Hmmm, that’s interesting. It is odd that the whole CHL doesn’t act together a lot and that the three leagues don’t make more decisions as a unit.
Yeah, like the three leagues (OHL, WHL and QMJHL) all fall under the CHL, but they operate independently. The AHL is different though, it’s not a junior league, it’s a professional league, under the level of the NHL.
I will be absolutely ecstatic if we hold on in this game, and that honestly depresses me.
