Matt Cooke Suspended 2 Games for Hit on Walker

LAME! Well.. I can't remember the hit and can't find a video if it.. I know I watched the game and if I can't remember the hit... it has to be lame.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke has been suspended two games without pay for a blow to the head of an opposing player.

Cooke was assessed a minor penalty for interference against Carolina forward Scott Walker in the first period of the Hurricanes' 2-1 win Jan. 20. Walker left the game and did not return.

Cooke will miss games against the New York Rangers on Wednesday and New Jersey on Friday, the NHL announced Tuesday.

He will be eligible to return Saturday at Toronto. Cooke will forfeit $12,903.23.

Honestly I don’t remember it either. It was a while ago though. Feels like the last time the Pens played a game it was 2006.

But I did watch that game and I don’t remember anything controversial or questionable or – whatever.

This is just lovely though. We finally get a winger who works with Sid and he gets himself suspended.

I think...

…it was that open ice hit, where he just blind-sided Walker well away from the play. Probably a justified suspension, if I’m remembering the hit correctly.

I cannot recall the hit either. The board is stretching their muscles right now and handing out all kinds of suspensions for games pre-ASG. Roi/Roy(?) of Flames was waiting on suspension decision for lame reason and Reager(sp) was also waiting on hit/cross-check, same sort of what? Don’t remember more than a week ago kind of thing. I am choked that Cooke is out, bane of their existence, find something that works…bam, injury, suspension, or whatever to halt it.
