Fleury will be in net for the Pens.
Lundqvist is expected in net for Rangers after sitting out last game with the flu.
By the look of things in the pregame story, expect Satan to make an appearance on some of the deeper lines. He's listed here as a fourth line winger.

Keith Jones on VS says look for Satan to break out.
Is it possible to break out on the 4th line with 4-6 minutes of ice time?
haha that’s a good analysis. Satan is awfully quiet lately and his demotion to the lower lines may be the calm before the scratch.

I’m not sure how much thought Keith Jones usually puts into these things. I think sometimes he just looks at the roster, picks a name he knows and says “watch out for this guy!”
Psh, I believe that. He couldn’t even write his own book with Buccigross’ help.

Keith Jones worked in Philadelphia for years as a morning radio show sidekick and a local between periods Flyers pundit on comcast before he got the Vs gig.
He was always a pretty funny guy, but never seemed to me like he’d be a national studio analyst…
I guess that would explain why he’s at VS – studio’s right across town, isn’t it?

Oh and this is great – give the Rangers a PP to kick things off.

I just hope this doesn’t end 1-0 and I have to sit through 59 minutes of pain.

Crosby looks fired up tonight. Guess that…uh, ‘fight’ brought the best out of him

Pens better score here… it would be pretty demoralizing to have this much advantage and not get a goal or two…
Oh good lawd Malkin’s shot was pretty but not pretty enough

haha I know. He looks like one of the Whos down i Whoville

Gasp. You didn’t know? They like hammocks and chocolate, money and tacos. They are from Thunder Bay, Ontario and their parents are sod farmers. They also might have another brother in the league but I’m not so sure. Oh, and another one that MIGHT be an NHLer some day

Marc has already been through enough of late, what with Semin beating him like an 80-year old grandmother who had her purse stolen
Technically the Penguins are winning right now with the spread that was in the paper today. Rangers are giving 1 1/2 goals.

or they don’t know that the rose goes in the front :)

Ah ok. I’ll admit I haven’t followed the juniors this year as much as I would’ve liked.

By the way Sean – did you see this piece by Big Georges? Good stuff.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
good read. so Sid broke the Code I guess for jumping to get a head start?
Also, usually these things are run by a teams PR staff before they get the green light…who let Georges start if he wasn’t supposed to?

There’s been a lot of talk regarding the Code these past few days with Semin, Crosby and to a way lesser extent Weight.
Georges said he was going to start and no one complained I’m sure.

I love Larocque! I hope he gets to finish his career in Edmonton. I think his presence is missed, on ice and off for the Pens.
Montreal isn’t even using him that much. He’s been a regular scratch for them this season. I guess that gave him the time to type up that piece.
I miss him in Pitt. I think they could’ve kept him on board…

Zarley Zalapski and/or Rico Fata will have breakout games tonight. You heard it here first.

i need to pick me up some international jerseys this year. I’ve said it for a while now but I guess I should make it a resolution. And yes, I understand a resolution is something to better yourself – but this does better myself.

best wait until around Olympics time in case some countries release new looks

no one keeps resolutions anyway, so there’s your excuse

Come on you Penguins
The Devils fans would like to see Pittsburgh beat the Rangers. On the basis that we hate the Rangers. Oh, and it would help us out in the standings.
Devils in my heart! Devils in my mind! Devils in my eyes! Devils until I die!
That’s how I feel about the Devils when they play the Rangers.

That was the chance right there. Not going to get a better look than that.

He’s killing the PP. He’s a dishonorable fight. Trade sounds like the best option at this point. Yes indeed.

Frank, what do you think of my Grey Goose-inspired move for RS:
Since Gaborik’s value has greatly diminished, he’ll likely only want to do a 1-yr deal to build his value back up. Pens sign him on July 1 for a one-year deal for between $3-5 million as a winger for Sid.
RS?
I was all for keeping Gaborik on the radar before he went down the other day. Now he’s out for 10 weeks. Seeing as how Fedotenko and Satan will be free agents after this season, and I don’t necessarily see them re-upping, I’m in full support of your suggestion.

Bah, of course. I don’t often refer to him by acronym, my bad. I say he has to do something that’s for sure. I don’t think they’re entirely out of the picture by the deadline either. I still think they’ll go after some kind of forward

:(
This game has been so ugly to watch. It seems like they have no sense of urgency on the PP and even when they have a chance on a rush, they try and slow up and make bad passes that crush any chances.
This team needs a spark in the most serious way right now. It’s getting hard to watch.
After the Rangers scored one minute it I prayed it wouldn’t be it for scoring. Of course I also hoped the Pens would get a goal or two of their own…
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
I think I’d like to go back to that period of time when all of our games were going into OT – at least then we were getting points. The PP is a disaster – I thought I heard earlier that they hadn’t scored in their past 28 chances (but I’m watching two games at once – so I could have that really wrong).
If Staal’s stick didn’t break, probably would have tied it up last period. Now they need a fight or something just to get a fire under them.
I’m all for a fight but I think we have to be even strength first.

so…the question now becomes if we walk out of Mellon tomorrow night vs Atlanta with 0 points, how soon does the shit hit the fan and firings and hirings commence? Immediately?
I really thought tonight would pose as the firing/hiring game. Five in a row is not pretty
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
A team of this caliber shouldn’t lose to the Panthers, Lightning (shutout no less) and Coyotes, just to name a few. Time to let the ish hit the fan and do something about it.

That stupid sign, “Vengeance is ours.” They do realize it’s an entirely different world in the playoffs, right?

Hate it shall be!!!
Ugh, freaking hell… I can’t believe it’s 3-0 >_<
It just breaks a heart.
My oh so fragile heart.
Bastards Rangers >_<

Well I’d like to say good game, but that was hardly a good one. Great talk though and hope to see you guys and gals stopping in tomorrow night against the Thrashers.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
When?
And yups.
I keep waiting. And waiting… for a break-through.
When in the world will they start turning things around??
That was a crap game!
I’m not sure if he’s the problem though.
Granted, I don’t really like the guy, and I think he made a fatal mistake in switching goalies the other day.. but still.
Ugh.

When
When did the play of players not effect a coach getting fired?
It’s definitely getting interesting out there on the coaching front. A loss tomorrow night could be it. Six in a row? Since when does a coach drop six in a row and not get ousted? (Islanders excluded)
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Hahah Islanders are a different story yups lol
Who then would be a fitting coach for the penguins?

I don’t know. I don’t even want to think that firing Therrien would put Mike Yeo in charge of things. He’s a nightmare with the power play. I can’t begin to imagine how bad he’d be with the entire team.
