Pensburgh Link Hits: Shanny on radar, Raising Arizona, All Stars named
Not a crazy busy day around the team but coming off a week of controversial fights, coaching rumors, painstaking losses and optimistic wins, maybe can all just use a break.
So read up my friends.

I Bleed Black N' Gold found a Malkin tribute video that's like those "Where ____ happens" promos we see during games.
I don't know what it is about these photos up at Hockey Football and Stiletto Shoes, but they sure as hell got me laughing. The vomit one is pretty hilarious, as are the jet pack ones.

The Coyotes laid off 10% of their staff. I hope this isn't as bad a sign as it looks. I feel for Five for Howling. We've been through rough times too.

Seriously. Rough times suck.
I haven’t written about any of the finance stuff because it typically devolves into “Move back to Winnipeg” fairly quickly. We’ll see what happens though. As for the 10% it looks like it’s mostly in non-hockey ops departments, and it’s only 18 people. Somehow that sounds better than 10%.

Um.
That would be against. I like my hockey team right where it is. 2 miles away from my house.

Honestly I don’t think Winnipeg could even manage a team right now. That area is heavily focused on industry, banking and health care. Two of those three are struggling in the economy now which, despite being Canada, is still facing the repercussions of it’s southern neighbors.
That was your economic report, courtesy of Pensburgh’s FrankD…

They Can't
That’s why the Jets left in the first place. I’m not saying Phoenix was the best place to relocate to, but relocation was necessary, no question about it.
Exactly.
And I wasn’t saying my writing does, but any article about coyote franchises invarriably quickly gets comments about “The team sucks, pack up and move back” etc… That and they tend not to cite reliable sources. Oh well. But they laid off not that many people, and mostly in redundant or outsourceable positions. And all the other area teams had already done it so eh.

Meh, we kinda had the same thing. The Penguins were being called “The Kansas City/Las Vegas/Obscure City Penguins” for a few good years too. It’ll blow over.

It better.
Or some of Mirtle’s coworkers could get punched in the face. Stupid Globe and Mail…
