Jordan Staal upped to wing, Fedotenko and Dupuis out

A slight change from initial reports this morning, but apparently now Ruslan Fedotenko and Pascal Dupuis will sit out tonight's game with injuries sustained in the Atlanta game. After the Pens announced Staal's new contract extension, they shortly after promoted him to the top line as Sid's wing. Interesting.

Just bizarre. I’ve yet to see a defenseman that was switched to wing score for the Pens when ON THE WING. I dunno, I could be pleasantly surprised tonight.

I haven’t even seen a defensemen playing winger get a single chance. It’s foolish.

They’re in Tennessee, not California, I don’t see why they couldn’t fly Chris Minard out there.

That’s exactly what I was thinking – up a winger before you alter a defenseman. Makes no sense to me and almost makes that position a black hole for the game.

Bah

I didn’t read about the Staal extension, and I kept yelling at the TV tonight… STAAL DO SOMETHING! And then I come here and see he got a 4 year extension… he better start showing up… he just seems to be filling up space on the ice more than anything lately…
