Video of Don Cherry on Kris Letang, Scott Hartnell
I'd like to think we're collectively over this incident by now, but as is the tradition with Don Cherry at times, sometimes the commentary comes a day or two later than when it would've been pertinent. So with that in mind I just wanted to share a clip I found of Cherry addressing the Letang/Hartnell incident that aired during last night's intermission between the Pens and Leafs. As is tradition with Cherry, or so the critics would say, he hardly shows any sense of favor toward French Canadian players. As this clip would indicate, he's staying right on track with those assessments.
Again, I'm not looking to open up this can of how the league should've handed the incident again. I'm merely sharing the clip of Cherry being Cherry. Take the jump for the vid and speak your piece.

don cherry's a baffoon.
at least he had on a somewhat normal looking suit.
What I don’t get about the incident is that everyone’s always saying “What were Letang’s fingers doing in Hartnell’s mouth?” I think this is a stupid question. First of all, no sane person would stick them there intentionally, which is what the Flyers fans all seem to be saying. So either they wound up there by accident in the scuffle or Hartnell did what most people do when they bite someone, they do it intentionally by lunging their head forward and grabbing hold of the person with their teeth. Cherry just seems to think he knows more about everything than anyone else.
Believe it or not Cherry is way more tolerable in print form. I just finished up his last book called “Hockey Stories and Other Stuff.” It was a decent read but he’s still kinda obnoxious even in written form, although considerably less than his TV or radio persona. He still writes with that “I know more than you’ll ever know” attitude though.

Get a Rabies shot Tanger!
What do don cherry and the philadelphia flyers have in common? LOSING! Hey I believe Letang intentionally stuck his finger in Hartnell’s mouth, see Bozo is anorexic and Tanger was trying to help him purge. What a joke, the only reason I’m advocating no suspension for Fartsmell is that he SUCKS! Keep the clown on the ice!
We won’t know how they got there, Tanger pushes the guys face and gets a finger in there, who knows.
Biting and drawing blood is a serious issue because it is bodily fluid transference. Hartnell’s spit in Tanger’s blood, Tanger’s blood in Hartnell’s mouth. Can’t be allowed to happen today. There’s no video to show what happened, so it is hard for discipline to happen. you put your fingers in a guys mouth, bad. You bite somebody, bad. The league needs to come out with a warning about this, and then start smacking both parties if this stuff happens again.
Tanger had gloves on still I believe, which limits his endangering of Hartnell, for what it is worth.
As usually seems the case Don Cherry doesn’t even get the details right, repeatedly saying he bit his thumb.
Kris Letang also must have invented the facewash and been the first person to ever use it last week because surely no hockey players hand has ever been near another players face.
I’m not crying over Hartnell not getting suspended, point here being Cherry is a baffoon and again using his biases to fuel his faux-outrage.

Don Cherry & the rest of the OLD TIMERS
I think its time some of the old timers step away from HOCKEY, ( this means you, Don Cherry) you color blind pampous jack$$$. You are still upset you made a lousy coach. You complain about everything on the ice.
Just another pompous TV personality who says the meanest things he can think of, tries to sell it as “truth,” and cherishes his own cruelty and ignorance.
