To add to Hooks' post about Eric Godard playing as a care bear in practice, it looks like Marc-Andre Fleury chose to mix it up a bit as well. Good to see they can keep it loose after a loss.

Great Picture...
If you look closely you can see Chris Kunitz in his ‘Invisible Man’ costume. Too bad he’ll probably wear it clear through Christmas.

And the Kunitz bashing continues…

The guy has always been a 20 goal scorer that is extremely streaky. I am more concerned about how long it takes him to get number 2. The first one will come eventually.

Whatever kept Kunitz, Kennedy, and Dupuis out of practice today, bet they wish they’d been there now!
Damn, I love this team.

When I hear those three names (Kunitz, Kennedy, and Dupuis) I think I’m playing that “Which one of these does not belong?” game!!! Anyone else?!!?

Not me, the team is 8-2, obviously Kunitz and Dupuis are doing something right.

Agreed 024…I think Kunitz is dealing with a personal issue too. Obviously he’s a pro and has been still competitng, but I think there’s some extra issues that could be affecting him.

Clearly....
Clearly he’s had a tragic loss….of goal production. Or maybe it is the psychological guilt of stealing a paycheck, or the self esteem lost from getting whipped in a fight. Either way, I’m not very compassionate towards him. I just don’t feel he has earned his stripes as a Penguin.
If he’s got some sort of clinical disorder, we need to get him help and submit his condition to the league. Hopefully they will allow us to put him on some sort of ‘PUP’ or ‘IR’ list that won’t count against the cap and we can use that money for a winger later in the season.
I just don’t understand the overall acceptability of his recent play. I guess I am in the minority hear. What is it with the loyalty to this guy? I mean, Duper gets more flack than Kunitz. But why?!!? I have yet to say anything critical of Duper. Nor will I. I mean, he’s a solid PK guy that makes 1.4 million, which is about what his performance dictates. But Kunitz? At 3.75 million?

Adams is making roughly half as much, and after Sid’s shorty the other night, Dupuis is no higher than #5 PK guy at best. Still think Dupuis is affordable?

Affordable, yes, bargain, no. Locked into a long term deal? Thankfully no. We are stuck with Kuni’s garbage contact though.

Because Kunitz does everything great except score goals on a consistent basis. As someone else pointed out, he’s a streaky goal scorer, yet he always ends up over 20 a year. Sounds about the right price to me.

20 goals for a winger playing with Sidney Crosby is worth 3.75 million in the salary cap era? Seriously?

people were up in arms about Colby being traded away, despite being roughly half the goals and price as Kunitz on Sid’s line

Yeah, I tried to make a similar comparison with my “where’s the love for Chris Kunitz?” article from last week, but the difference in price remained a big topic.

It doesn’t matter who is scoring the goals on Sid’s line as long as they are scoring. It’s a unit, not a one man show. Go back and look at the article about the goal differentials when Kunitz is on the ice (link someone?). He is effective regardless of his personal goal totals.

Couple things about that article.
1.) It was written OVER two years ago (Aug. 2007).
2.) At the time, he had only played one full season with the Ducks. Not exactly representative of a large body of work.

ok really
the guy was an intergral part of the cup run. yes he has been in a severe slump, but if look at his responsabilities he is not supposed to be sniping. he supposed to be banging bodies, grinding the puck out of the corners. work that billy g is to old to do. get out of your hater mobile please.
