Regarding Admirals/Penguins – apparantly the makers of NHL 10 insisted on making the Admirals one of the most ridiculous teams in the game. When I played Lavender a week or two ago, I was the Pens and he was the Admirals. I put about 50 shots on net and his goaltender saved 49 of em before going on to take the win in a shootout. Lame. Lame. Lame.

That was a real nice goal but I can’t believe how much credit Errey is giving Kunitz. The MON D literally passed the puck right into his skates. Brutal defensive play.

It always makes other teams a little more cautious and hesitant around the points when you have a legit SH threat on the ice. I like using your scorers on your second unit because the other team is generally going to have a more tired first unit on the ice and you can try to take advantage of it.

Ha. At least Dupuis is on a reasonable contract and can play some D (right?). Nylander is useless if he’s not performing as a top 6 F, which he isn’t.
(But I will always respect Nyls for how professionally he is handling this, couldn’t ask for more.)

Yeah, true that about his professionalism. And yes, Dupuis is a credible PK guy. It just annoys me that I probably have hands just as good as him.

And a slapshot. If he could just skate straight ahead and boom a shot every single time down the ice, he’d probably score 20 a year. Too bad that’s impossible.
Dup also has a knack for shooting right into the goalies pads. the other night against the Devs he and two others had a 3-on-1. All he had to do was shoot to create a rebound (or, uh, pass) and instead he shoots right into Marty’s chest.

Rumor suggests Kunitz is dealing with some off-ice stuff. No one knows what exactly. Something tells me Errey knows, promised to stay off the record and is showing some love by overcompensating with positive feedback.
Just my cynical outlook on media…
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I can buy that. I’m very cynical on the media. I was outright pissed that all the Mike Green weight issues didn’t come out until training camp this year even though all the beat writers knew about it last year. My cynical interpretation is that the writers didn’t want to risk pissing off Green/The Caps and lose access. Garbage.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
yup, that whole access thing is a big factor in bloggers getting credentials too. Not to get too much into it, but teams feel they can at least control the press. Or rather, what they feed them. Trying to tame the blogosphere is like the wild west to them.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Yeah it’s tough. NHL teams are so neurotic about controlling information. The NHL really needs to embrace blogging as a source of information more than they do.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
Really I think Kunitz is going through something like Aaron Smith did last season where his kid got sick, the media knew but didn’t report it.
I have no knowledge of what Kunitz’s issues are right now — I am NOT saying any of his kids are sick or anything — but I don’t really have a problem with what FSN is doing tonight.
Don’t know if you remember/saw it, but they highlighted a Kunitz goal as a key to the game….Not unusual to follow up on that point when he’s piling up assists.

I figured that since Detroit’s defense is still awesome he’d be OK.
I’ve re-evaluated that train of thought.

I thought DET was going to win their division again this year, and probably the West. I’ve re-evaluated that position as well. I would have abandoned it but CHI hasn’t sold me (more specifically, Huet).

Agreed.
Perhaps I shouldn’t point out in the Pensburgh league Huet is my other top goalie (if you could call Osgood a top goalie).
I have a feeling a suprise team (ala Edmonton in 2006) might come out of the West this season, standings wise.

He was hot as balls down the stretch to get the Caps into the playoffs in 08 and then was very normal during the playoffs.

“I’m not the guy that needs to make 8 hits a game to have a job.”
Well neither is Richards.
