It’s when a player tries to connect on a really long pass down the ice to a teammate. When it works it can lead to a breakaway. When it doesn’t it leads to icing mostly, which we just saw twice over

Cooke is notorious for taking penalties at such fitting times. I’m sure Fehr and Balanced knows what’s up. Exactly the reason why Caps fans were saying “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out” when he left DC

Yeah but that one was a tough call. I was more afraid that he’s always a hit-from-behind waiting to happen. He also has a tendency to hit late and you get the feeling he’s playing with fire.

I actually don’t remember if he PKed for us, I suspect he did a little. It always hurts a little more when a PK guy takes a penalty.

It’s sad that the Penguins are phoning it in at home. I guess I could understand them not getting too excited about playing in Phoenix when the Flyers are tomorrow — but they are playing in front of their home crowd, people that paid a lot to watch them. They should show some energy for the fans if nothing else.

2) do not get in a scrum in the corner

3) do not come within 2 feet of the goalie.

these all result in penalties today

Do they need to get in mid-season form or is this just the reality of NHL officiating? I’d like to think there is some way to call a good game, as difficult as it is to call an NHL game. But basically every playoff series had some questionable officiating last season and most of the regular season games I’ve seen so far have been below standards.
