Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Boston Bruins [Open Thread]
Pittsburgh Penguins at Boston Bruins, Nov 10, 2009 7:00 PM EST
This one, as noted, is on Versus. Which means I get to utilize this again! (too soon? no? I agree.) Don't worry, he invented this to make sure that never happens to anyone ever again.
That said, this could be a rough one. We're pretty banged up, and coming off a west coast road trip to take on the always physical Bruins. Still, I'm optimistic. They're pretty banged up themselves. Besides, if we drop this one my professor, a Boston maniac who's wicked smaaaat, will rue my next class for sure because I trash talked, to which he somehow never graded my paper for two weeks. Hmm..
Anyway! Cheers, and Lets Go Pens!

i;m watching this one, it isn’t very good at all… but I cannot seem to find another one.
Found this feed. Note: requires download and installation of a program called Sopcast, but it doesn’t seem suspicious or dangerous. Also, the feed is pretty good.
Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89
I downloaded sopcast on my last computer, it gave me many problems. I’m not very computer savvy though.
i never had any problems with sopcast personally, watched the last few pacquiao fights with that and it worked pretty good.

Yay Orpik’s hurting now, yay.
This is getting ridiculous.

At least Engylland doesn't look that bad.
Is it Lovejoy or Guenin next?

To get injured? Probably both at this rate. I’m a bit cautious to wear my Pens jersey on that basis.
PensBurgh penalty - Lavender - 2 Minutes for Excessive Stanley Cup Raising.
No, to get called up.

I would think Lovejoy.

Yeah this could be one of those nights Pittsburgh might need it.
Shots are 9-2 Bruins currently.

He'd wind up leaping into Chara's arms.
Chara would likely then proceed to throw him into the stands.

Well, they’re actually showing some energy to fight for the puck tonight, but they’re still not getting any kind of decent look at the net.
I’m beginning to wonder if teams have figured out the team’s system at this point.
But then again, It’s not rocket science, it’s just hockey. I think teams have basically always known what the Penguins want to do. But when they have better players, they can obviously control the puck and play better.
When those player are hurt and they have lesser guys, they have worse execution and the opponent’s can clamp down on Crosby.

I hope your professor flunks you.

Me, too! I keep thinking, “Nothing good happened, but nothing bad happened either.”

Fleury played well and they stayed out of the box. Nice receipe not to get scored on. Now if they could just get one on the power-play…

Versus didn’t give an update on Orpik (in their defense they’re probably too clueless to notice anything, but I paused my TV and counted counted one less player on the bench than their should have been (yes, I accounted for the backup goalie and the players on the ice!)

I noticed when he went down behind the net, got up really slowly, and hunched in front of the net until he could get off. I was about to post that I saw this but figured it was in my head due to all the injuries lately and that he would be back out soon.
I still have my toes crossed for Orpik (to free up my fingers so I can type).

No reports yet….He got taken into the boards behind the net, appeared to be a routine play but he was doubled over. They did replay it, hard to see where he might have gotten stung at, could be anything really.

Looks like Sid has missed Geno the past few games.

They don’t play much at even-strength together.
The power-play’s doubtlessly missed Geno.

Waved off a goal and play continues without a whistle….Very bizarre.

I thought the same thing! That was strange…and we even got a breakaway out of it.

Shit. Orpik’s not coming back into the game.

That’s a goal, it’s gonna be 1-0 Bruins.

I can’t believe that we lost Orpik too.
The count is now: Geno, Talbot, Kennedy, Gonchar, Letang, Orpik
Yikes, terrible casulty list there. Costly too.

They are peppering Thomas with shots, one has to go in soon, right? Agree with Stell, game flying by.
AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
This is so frustrating. A puck was left sitting in front of the net for us, and we couldn’t even get there.
I miss having so much as a TK to hop out and energize the tempo…
Stupid injuries

QFT. Kennedy is such an energetic presence on the ice it seems. That third line is just money in the bank usually.

My professor wins…. >_<
Night people. At least it’s a long season and we aren’t losing people for the whole season :knocks on every piece of wood in house:

Hope you get a chance to be smug and annoying back at him later this season.

…or this weekend. Long season though. Nobody should be thinking this is the way it’s going to be for any long period of time. All our key scorers, who are healthy, are even dinged, but they heavily suffer from the other losses happening.
Again, stupid injuries and your injuring ways!

Okay, then, this weekend. I know this won’t last.
