Sorry I don’t.
The game is on NHL Network in the US, if anyone out there gets that channel. It’s the FSN Pittsburgh’s feed there too.

Alright, here we go! C'mon Pens!
Two D-men with three combined NHL games? What could go wrong? Prediction: Pens win 3-2.
I like the optimism.
Hey being at home has to help, right?
I say Pens win and a Bill Guerin breaks out of his little slump.

Yeah, nice little personality. Dan Potash has a great rapport with the players, you can tell the way guys like Guerin, Talbot, Rupp and the othes treat him. That and the players are pretty big hams.

I think a lot of NJ fans are worried that this may be some sort of a trap game. Under normal circumstances playing Pittsburgh wouldn’t be, but playing against a team that is obviously injured can be

Playing on the road against a division rival that’s the Stanley Cup champion?
I don’t see how that is a trap, I don’t think the Devil players will have any problem getting up for this game.

Yeah trap isn’t the word I’m looking for but I know the Devils fans over at ILWT aren’t taking it lightly. They are a bit concerned the streak may end tonight, so let’s see the Pens make that happen

Crosby, Rupp, Staal. That’s an interesting line….Why? did the horn just sound? Let’s hope it’s prophetic.
Maybe just a reminder of what it sounds like when you score

The goal horn just went off, and faceoff factor said on twitter another zamboni died on the ice (no fluid like last time, thankfully)

For as much as everyone’s bemoaned the latest little slump, the winner of this game will be in 1st place in the Eastern Conference in the standings tomorrow morning.

I like the first pairing still intact. From there the vet-rook, vet-rook approach is just about as good as you can make it with the staff to work with

I think it’s a mix between a question and a request ;-)

Actually, if you were to sit down and watch a Devils game from circa the mid-1990’s and compare it to the way the Devils play today, you would be able to see a marked difference in the style of play. The Devils haven’t abandoned their defense-first approach to the game over the past decade-and-a-half, but they are no longer play the straight-up neutral zone trap, mostly because of post-lockout rule changes that were made to render that system untenable.
The Devils are nothing if not resourceful, however, and in the four seasons since the lockout they’ve tweaked their old game into what I think of as a light, watered down version of the neutral zone trap, eliminating the clutch-and-grab aspect (made illegal by the league’s focus on enforcing the anti-obstruction rules) from it and emphasizing responsible defensive play by all five skaters on the ice, who will play as a five man unit.
But it doesn’t really matter whether Lemaire is “still doing the trap” or not, because his team is winning, and at the end of the regular season, the only thing that truly matters is the number in the points column. It isn’t how they were obtained, but how many there are that determines whether a team makes the playoffs. Why mess with success?
Skoula almost cracked one there. Weird shot almost went in

Can’t wait until Brodeur gets burned when he goes out to get the puck.
Can’t stand that cocky, cry baby
I couldn't believe my eyes when it almost happened earlier.

I wouldn’t say he’s overrated but I’d definitely agree that he’s cocky. He admitted in his book that the trapezoid was invented specifically to stop puck-playing goaltenders like him

by GhostWalker40 on Nov 12, 2009 8:49 PM EST up reply actions
That’s because it was. What other explanation could there possibly be for putting a shape I haven’t seen since sophomore geometry class behind the net? The NHL claims it’s to create more offense, but the way in which it creates offense is by essentially putting puckhandling goaltenders on a leash. It allows the opposing team to dump the puck in and pursue it by taking away the goalie’s option of retrieving the puck and passing it up to a defenseman to skate it out of the defensive zone. A goaltender who is capable of both skating and playing the puck well is a rarity in the NHL, and Brodeur is widely acknowledged to be the best puckhandler ever to play the game. His ability gives whatever team he plays for an advantage that the twenty-nine other teams in the league most likely do not have, and while the trapezoid doesn’t eliminate his ability to play the puck entirely, it does significantly curb it, so Brodeur isn’t wrong when he said what he did.

Kinda unrelated, but I’ll never really understand why Ken Daneyko’s number is retired in NJ.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I mean, I know he played his entire career there and all, but his numbers aren’t exactly retirement worthy
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Do the numbers you are looking at include blocked shots, finished checks, penalties drawn, heart, charisma, timely scrums, quality instigation and good defensive positioning at almost all times?
I am not a huge fan, but he was a guy that seemed to do all the right things for a very long time for one organization. He put the team first always.
This is true but a lot of guys are those heart and soul kinda personalities that will never get a number lifted to the rafters. Guess the Devils really don’t have that one guy in franchise history other than Stevens.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Well yeah, but his number isn’t retired. I mean, I guess the Penguins’ standards for retiring a number are different than NJ’s.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
He hooked, held and obstructed his way to a place in the Devils organization’s heart that, a story they’ll want to tell for generations to come.
Kidding aside, he played 175 playoff games, and I believe he appeared in every single game of the franchise’s history (up to 2003 when he retired, obviously).
A great defensive defenseman but not one of the legends….IMO only an all-time great that you tell stories about for years to come should have their numbers retire. But my bar is high.
Pensburgh.com -- it's like the Max Talbot of blogs*
*not just because we only work for 12 minutes a night
I agree to an extent, but the Pens do not have a penguins version of Daneyko. Maybe Ulfie, but for not nearly as long.
I think it is a quality tribute.
30 years from now will anyone know who the hell he is? Nope.
Same thing happened where I live in Washington with some guy named Labre, a defensive dman from back in the day. His number is retired. I like to quiz Cap fans what number he wore and 90% don’t know and have never heard of him. (A test of who I want to talk hockey with around there parts)
Pensburgh.com -- it's like the Max Talbot of blogs*
*not just because we only work for 12 minutes a night
Probably right, but I will remember him due to he was a stalwart in a time when I had more time for hockey than anything else in life. Heck, we used to hand score fantasy hockey before any of us could afford a computer for Excel. (and none of us drafted Daneyko)
Haha that’s pretty sweet.
I say honor your important players but save retiring numbers for almost generational talents that spend almost their whole careers with you.
Pensburgh.com -- it's like the Max Talbot of blogs*
*not just because we only work for 12 minutes a night
Because we love him here. Ken Daneyko embodies many of the qualities prized by both the Devils organization and their fans. He played his entire career with the Devils, during both the good times and the bad. He is one of only five players to be on all three of the Devils Stanley Cup winning teams. He played a physical, blue-collar style of hockey that endeared him to the fans.
In the end I believe it is his loyalty, however, that convinced the Devils management (i.e., Lou Lamoriello), that Daneyko was worthy of having such an honour bestowed upon him. He remained a Devil for his entire twenty-year career, even though I’m sure a GM or two was willing to offer a bruising defensive defenseman like Daneyko when he was in his prime more money than he was making in New Jersey to come play on their blueline. The fact that he made the decision to play for less money on a team he believed had the chance to compete for a championship every year is what got his number raised to the rafters, just like it got Scott Stevens’ jersey raised to the rafters before him and will be followed in due time by Martin Brodeur’s and probably Patrik Elias’s if he remains a Devil for the rest of his career. This is unfortunately the same reason why Scott Niedermayer, who played for the Devils for over a decade and who played a large role on all three of the team’s championship victories, will never be honoured in a similar fashion; because he left.
I don’t usually feel like the refs are “against” us but the calls have not been going our way tonight. Some really soft calls on us, then they get to trip us.
Yeah, the officiating has been uneven to say the least.

With two dmen with a total of FIVE nhl games in front of him, and a third that started the season as our #7, 3 goals is not terrible to a very hot Devils team.
All the goals scored were VERY weak.
Fleury does a half ass job because he knows he won’t get the blame with all the injuries

Give me a break, he had no chance on the 2nd and 3rd one and he wasn’t in the net for the 4th. The 1st he maybe could have had, but his guys abandoned him there. Fleury is one of the only reasons we’ve been in games lately (except for the SJ game, nobody showed up to that one).
Some of you guys here are starting to remind me of Flyers fans looking for someone to heap blame on. I thought the team played a very passionate, hard working game tonight, and if they had scored on that PP in the third, or if some of those posts that Sid hit went in, we might have won it. The devils just put on a shot blocking clinic. Here’s to Geno back on Saturday?
I have no issue with Fleury. It’s not him right now it’s the entire team. Like Ulf Murphy said above, his d-men around him aren’t helping much. You saw GoGo mess up that one goal (and Conner for that matter), and the other was a weird bounce off Lovejoy. We’re looking at 2-1 without those weird bounces.
