Taking a peak at the WBS "Baby" Pens

With the Pens struggling to find scoring in the last few games I thought it's a good idea to see how are the WBS Penguins doing and what is there "to offer"...

So I watched my first WBS Penguins game ever (not as easy as it may sound...:) - a game @ Albany River Rats ("Baby" 'Canes) which we won 3:1

And decided to share my observations...

Caputi is already a more confident professional player and could easily be on the 3rd line in Pittsburgh from next season.

Tangradi and Veilleux are both bringing big bodies and some skills... I was actually more impressed with Veilleux...

My pre-game "next winger called-up" favorite Bayda made some Bourque-like misses, although he did get an ENG

Chris Lee and Brian Strait were the 2 best Dmen... but with Lee being a life-long AHL-er Strait is the one to keep an eye on. Guenin didn't impress me at all... too one-dimensional

Brad Thiessen was in goal... and was absolutely stellar... almost singlehandedly kept the W in the 3rd

Letestu was not dressed which makes me think he is either being called-up tomorrow or he's injured... but I hope the first of those...

The content expressed in fanposts does not necessarily reflect the opinions of the staff here at Pensburgh.com. FanPosts are opinions expressed by fans of various teams throughout the league but may be more Pittsburgh-centric for obvious reasons.

I was thinking the same exact thing, postings wise, so I thought I would ask this question too.

We called up Conner, who I always thought was a good player and has potential, but then sent him down to call up Letestu, who, in my opinion, I would actually have some trouble picking between Conner and Letestu.

But we still have Chris Bourque. Why, for all that is holy, is Chris Bourque still on the Pens when we have Letestu and Conner? It seems like every time I listen to Mike Lange (I can’t shy away from the sayings, I’m sorry) he and the Ol’ Two-Niner are seconds away from just laughing and making fun of Bourque because he always does something stupid; an example being the first time he hit the ice in a game he tripped or ran into someone.

So my question is, what do other people think? Who are the players on the Baby Penguins that we should be looking out for and possibly using relatively soon.

In my opinion Bourque is too small to play on the 3rd and 4th lines where we need guys who harass the opponents on the forecheck and play solid D… AND he is not talented enough to be on the 2nd line… so he’s out for me too…

Guys like Wallace and Jeffrey can play solid 3rd/4th line minutes…

I don’t know what’s the whole “plan” with Bourque…

You have to see it for yourself...
