Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Ottawa Senators [Open Thread]
Pittsburgh Penguins at Ottawa Senators, Nov 19, 2009 7:30 PM EST
So, amidst the injuries, isn't great to get our QB of the PP back, and then Mr. Superstar? I'm interested to see how they take to the ice tonight, tentative out there or not, it's great to see both out there!
With the Penguins having a certain amount electricity jolted to the system when Geno returned, I got to believe this will only be a plus with that. This will be a lot of fun to watch, having them back to the mix.
Cheers, and Let's Go Pens!

New picture, new motto. Yeah, I think it’s time to kick back and enjoy a game.

I’m gonna enjoy some superstar treatment.

DO you think FSN learned and decided to steer away from the Chris Bourque features for tonight?

Speaking of FSN, any feeds so I can visually be distracted from my two research papers?

Indeed. He’s picked up up well the past few games when the team has needed others to do so.

That shot by Neil would have been met by the criticism in NHL 10 about “tough guys,” I believe.

Do the Senators have a player so in love with the movie “Shaun of the Dead,” that he changed his name?

I don’t know whether that was kind of a weak goal to give up, or just a great great shot given the angle.
PensBurgh penalty - Lavender - 2 Minutes for Deking a Duper Deke that made a Duper Duck.
Can’t knock the shot but I don’t think he would’ve had that positioning if the Pens weren’t so tired

no prob. A few seconds from intermission but hey, at least you can jump on for the second
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
1-1 after one. In all honesty this game could’ve been 3-3 given the chances/posts on both sides. I think we’ll see an exciting second
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
We’re not shooting enough. Only 4 shots in the period? A Crosby/Malkin 2-on-1 that doesn’t end with even an attempted shot? Not sure what’s wrong. Maybe adjusting to all the lineup changes.
There was also that Gonchar blunder earlier in the first (not the one he sent up the boards to Dupuis). I guess these little things will happen from time to time. Either way, I’ll take 1-1 into the second

I dunno, don’t think you can even blame that one on the defense. Just a nice deflection in front of Fleury

Sid just can’t go 1 on 3 when we’re on a PP…that’s just bad.

SId is on some kind of mission tonight, damn, did I miss something, never scored in Ottawa or something like that.
Yep. Eight games in Ottawa with no goals.

Man, we’re still struggling with setting up quality chances on the PP.
PensBurgh penalty - Lavender - 2 Minutes for Deking a Duper Deke that made a Duper Duck.
Put Superstar on the PP!
Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89
All I know is, the sooner TK is back, the sooner this PP gets more rounded thanks to a combo of speed and controlled shooting. I still don’t know what Chris Borque brings to the table.
PensBurgh penalty - Lavender - 2 Minutes for Deking a Duper Deke that made a Duper Duck.
I would rather see Rupp or Cooke in that spot on the PP.
by OlenWhitaker on Nov 19, 2009 8:52 PM EST up reply actions
Duper
HANDS! …seriously, like 8 shots missed!
PensBurgh penalty - Lavender - 2 Minutes for Deking a Duper Deke that made a Duper Duck.
No shots on that whole PP. That’s just sad. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. We need to show the Sens goalie some rubber.
That just means they’re doing as badly as we are in that department. We should have at least 20 by this point.
by OlenWhitaker on Nov 19, 2009 8:57 PM EST up reply actions
All right, Malkin NEEDS to shoot. Dumb pass to Rupp. should put that on net and let Rupp play his game and crash the net
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Agreed. We need shots. Malkin got the look, he should have taken it.
by OlenWhitaker on Nov 19, 2009 9:01 PM EST up reply actions
Lovejoy continues to impress. No way he doesn’t make the squad full time next year if he keeps playing like he is.
Well this PP doesn’t look bad but once Gonch gets his shot on they’ll be in good shape
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
So do you consider quantity over quality shots here like I do? Because frankly I don’t think setting up for the “right” shot is working so well right now.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Agreed. It’s time for the shotgun approach. Keep firing and either one will go in or we’ll get a good rebound or bounce.

K, I think this one is over. The Pens look flat and Ottawa isn’t going to let up. Unless there is a drastic change in chemistry I don’t see Pittsburgh winning this one.

I benched Leclaire in my fantasy because I thought Pens would take it and didn’t want to lose my goalie stat lead, rough, it is all my fault for jinxing it at 5 am this morn.
I have Leclaire in one league and FLeury in another. They both started for me tonight so I was facing a win/loss either way

At least we’ve started taking a few shots, even if they aren’t getting on net it’s an improvement of sorts.

Well that Cooke hit will be looked at by the league I’m sure
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Yeah, I don’t think it was dirty, though. The other guy had his knee out much more than Cooke did. Still, it was marginal.

So in the small time I was away to nearly cap off my annotative bibliography, what did I miss…because that score has changed one more for the worse since I left…which makes me depressed.

It wasn’t a horrible start. Even the second wasn’t bad. But everything fell apart in the third

Hell, we scored rather quick so I thought it would be this score, just the other way around.
I don’t think the sens are very good at all, but we usually place down to our opponent, like the Steelers like to do
