Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Atlanta Thrashers [Open Thread]
Pittsburgh Penguins at Winnipeg Jets, Nov 21, 2009 7:00 PM EST
A part of me feels like a genius for thinking Rich Peverley was going to do well after he left my Milwaukee Admirals. Still, that's nothing compared to how the man who said this team would start off as hot as it did feels.
Cheers, and Let's Go Pens!

I don’t doubt it. I’m sure if Antro scores a goal for ATL we’ll hear about how much he loves playing against them again too

I will say though that I’m happy with the look of that first defensive pairing

good save by MAF… the Canadians putting on another throwback jersey tonight against Detroit…
You have to see it for yourself...
like the other throwbacks wern’t atrocious enough.

Nice work by Duper on that shift.
Now let’s see if the PP can make it work

I’m getting the ATL feed tonight… and they put up 2:0 on the screen too:)
You have to see it for yourself...
Let’s hope that is an omen of things to come.

I think Skoula gets credit for it. That’s what the box score shows right now

Which guy do you like to root against the most?
A) Ovechkin
B) Hossa
C) Hartnell
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
My sentiments exactly. And I really don’t care about Hossa anymore. Vengeance was justified with the Cup. I’m over him
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Hossa isn’t even an issue at this point
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 21, 2009 7:29 PM EST up reply actions
To elaborate...
Ovechkin is a good hockey player, but Crosby and Malkin are better, so I don’t care about him. The reason the capitals are so invested in hating Crosby is that they are jealous. I don’t hate Ovechkin except when he injures a Penguin (I actively hated him for hurting Gonchar), but otherwise it does not bother me when he does well.
Hossa has suffered enough…
And, Hartnell is a the biggest douche in the universe who continues to plague our team by trying to injure them (for example, biting Kris Letang.)
I will watch Ovechkin play anyone. He’s exciting as all hell to watch. I just really hate when he does well again the Pens, but hey, it helps fuel the rivalry.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Is it just me or does anyone else hate when announcers announce power plays like a monster truck commercial?
How do you handle out a 6 min penalty? is there a triple minor? just happened in the DET MTL game… a nasty knee on knee hit on Kronwall who looked to be seriously injured
You have to see it for yourself...
probably a double minor with another penalty tagged on.

Errey sounds sick/tired. And by that I mean, like a normal broadcaster
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Hahaha — I’m watching the Thrashers channel and there was a scrolling ad for “Thrasher’s kids day” where you get a free ticket for your child with the purchase of an adult ticket. Then it said “the next kids day is tomorrow…”
And my first thought was — they have seats available for tomorrow? (Then I remembered all the empty seats tonight.) Not every team is as lucky as the Pens.
Um didn’t Errey talk about how they can’t sell out in Atlanta and he just now said how quiet the sell out crowd is?
Good period.

Are we playing as well as it looks like we are? I’m stuck at work and don’t have the bandwidth for a live feed.
True that. Like GW40 said before, it should be 4-0. Of course he said that before the last two goals, so I think I’ll update it and say it should be 7-0.

They should have Dupuis with Guerin and Sid. He has way more chemistry with those two, he’s never had chemistry with Malkin this year when they’ve been together. Then Talbot can be with Geno and Feds where he belongs.
heh, they just showed the Army audio where he asked about the penalty shot. Has he played hockey all his life?

I missed half that power play because my dad asked me about what a goalie wears for protection and I made the mistake of grabbing my C/A to demonstrate. It had been too long since I had gotten myself into the thing that I had trouble getting my left arm in without accidentally making it impossible to get the straps clipped on for the back. :(
If the score stays 3-1 the Thrashers will probably pull Hedberg soon. Skoula better be out there for the EN

That was a great game to watch
We could have had a few more goals, but what matters is we got the W.
like Errey repeated a thousand times, Moose just played awsome tonight single handedly keeping the Shamsters in the game. I did not really see any decent back checking by their forwards at all tongiht and they just played uninspired.
Flower did his job and did it well..One goal should never have happened and the other just took a lucky bounce.
The officiating was pretty bad tonight on boht sides, Phantom trip call, missed blatant trip calls, blatant slashings, ok well those all were with Thrashers in favor but still ha. Just bad officiating.
Nice game for the pens coming off their worst game of the year. It was so good to see Orpik back laying people out again.
