Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Florida Panthers [Open Thread]
Pittsburgh Penguins at Florida Panthers, Nov 23, 2009 7:30 PM EST
I do believe the Panthers are dishing out a new uniform in this game. Don't know about you, but them having a baby blue kind of look doesn't seem right.
Anywho, enough about the aesthetics. Cheers, and Let's Go Pens!

Good evening people, I’m stoked for a repeat of the Pens first 40 minutes against Atlanta.

I’d like to see the same only for a full 60 instead

As long as the Refs call slashes and dives we should be fine!

Ghostwalker40 is taking this one in live in Florida and mentioned earlier he’ll be posting up some pics to his twitter account, so def worth checking out between periods.

Florida’s third jersey is kinda cool. Reminds me of another team’s third. Just can’t place my finger on it

They look like New Hampshire’s jerseys from the college ranks.
You come at the king, you best not miss.
Jesus those jerseys look like the Pens third ones.

If the Pens 3rd jersey knocked up the St. Louis Blues third jersey, that baby would be this jersey.

More FSN math: one thirdt jersey + another third jersey = a third jersey.

Chris Bourque starts on the 3rd line with Staal and Cooke, a prized position.
I thought Bourque actually looked like a good player in person on Saturday night. Shocking, I know.
You come at the king, you best not miss.
Vokoun flopped there. I don’t think Crosby was trying to run the goalie, just going hard to the net with the puck for a goal.

But the PK has been solid.

F&B — I took a gamble and started Brian Elliot in one of my leagues. I’m holding my breath and praying.

Why did you have him on the roster? (As if you needed another reason to root against the Caps.)

Interesting how they act as if Vokoun’s gotten shelled so far in the game. Fleury saves = 9, Vokoun saves = 6.
I don’t want to curse/jinx anything for the superstitious people around here (I’m not one at all)….BUT
The Pens PK has been really great. From Staal to Cooke to Dupuis to the defensemen and Fleury, they’ve all been great this year
You come at the king, you best not miss.
… though it would be awesome if random fans on Penguins blog had the power to impact the game by saying unlucky things. Sadly it’s not the case.
That’s my train of thought…Don’t think I’m important enough to affect the course of events in a game that I’m not playing in.
You come at the king, you best not miss.
Looks like Ballard and Crosby getting at it again. Memories of last season’s fight coming to mind…
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Ballard is one of those guys that gets under Sid’s skin.
I think Ballard’s among the most under-rated players in the league. Doesn’t get a lot of press but it a solid defenseman. I hope he makes Team USA.
You come at the king, you best not miss.
It was criminal that he didn’t get invited to the camp. I cannot believe that at all. Is Burke just pissed that Ballard likes to play some hockey in between punching faces?

Just on principle. He can be the Pens’ official Penalty Box-Sitter. (And he’d probably find a way to screw that up somehow.)

Took too many penalties…offensive zone penalties at that. It kept us from getting any momentum. We can get it back by coming out hard in the second.
Damn the Rangers are whipping the Blue Jackets 6-2 and the game isn’t half over.
Gaborik with a goal and an assist in about 20 seconds.
You come at the king, you best not miss.
That assist was garbage. Cute nonsense like that shouldn’t be rewarded.

I was talking about the one he wired on to Avery’s stick (for the 4th goal)
You come at the king, you best not miss.
Must have missed it. I was talking about the partial breakaway he allowed to turn into a 2 on 2 and somehow didn’t get that ridiculous pass picked off.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
It’s been hard to keep up with all the goals. But the assist for Gaborik I referenced was legit. (I believe he might have one that’s not)
You come at the king, you best not miss.
Well the assist I’m talking about is a legit assist by the rules. It’s just a stupid as hell hockey play for a guy that scores like Gaborik. Way too cute. Avery had a goal after a lengthy review and I think Gaborik has an A on that too but I haven’t checked the box score.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
Holy jesus, the Florida 3rd jerseys are terrible.
It’s like the bastard love child of the Blues and the Chargers, but only if they stuck random suns and “FLA” all over the place. Like we wouldn’t be able to tell a jersey with those color combination comes from Florida.
Alternatively, it looks like the Tar Heels’ dark blue football jersey converted to hockey.

yeah, end of 2nd. This is obnoxious. Guess I’ll just watch the Texans/Titans game for a bit. (Not exciting)

I need about 45 points from Steve Slaton (without Matt Schaub getting anything done) for that game to be of any use to me.
i traded Schaub two weeks ago. I have Brees and just wanted to wait till the bye weeks were done before I committed to just one. Got Desean Jackson for him, so it kinda worked out for a guy I was treating as a backup

Yeah, same here. I’m thinking Texans to win, but since neither team is going to make the playoffs, it’s kind of irrelevant.

I’m going to use this time to take a shower… when I come back I expect this to be working, do you hear me FSN?? (I’m still convinced the Pittsburgh announcers read Pensburgh)

Meh, how else do guys like Orpik, Dupuis, Talbot and Rupp do it?
Nothing wrong with getting a little dirty.
You come at the king, you best not miss.
I don’t have a problem with dirty goals. I have a problem when the team time and time again have games where they show little to no effort to get any decent scoring chances, and have to rely on lucky bounces like that to get a goal.
In other words, with the way the Pens are playing right now, if Florida doesn’t win this game, I will be very surprised

They are finally showing some life on offense, but they are still moving too slow in their own zone… it feels like they are skating through jello when the Panthers get the puck. They don’t get back in time, they don’t clear in time.

It turned out to be a great game, but I was sooooo down the first 2 periods with all those panthers “fans” cheering.
