TK is back too? Awesome!
Happy birthday, Flower!
Let’s do this!

As a present from the team to MAF: no more 3 on 2’s and Flower will get the SO!

Nice to see the best third line in hockey back together.

by SlayerGhaleon on Nov 28, 2009 7:35 PM EST reply actions

Okay, I can breathe. The top people in Extra Attacker didn’t play Kennedy, either.

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 7:37 PM EST reply actions

Wow, Valiquette is tall for a goalie at 6’6".

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 7:38 PM EST reply actions

That’s crap. Eaton held the stick to protect his face.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 7:39 PM EST reply actions

PK looking great again though.

Alright, let’s try not to give up any stupid chances on this PP.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 7:45 PM EST reply actions

We gave up a stupid chance… >:(

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 7:46 PM EST reply actions

PP looking dangerous though.

There is a knack to flying: it's learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.

by Sid the captain on Nov 28, 2009 7:47 PM EST reply actions

Valiquette’s looking tough to beat so far. PP was decent except for giving up that 2-on-1, but Valiquette denied us.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 7:48 PM EST reply actions

I see we’ve got a bit of a skeleton crew here tonight. Stupid Saturdays. :)

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 7:48 PM EST reply actions

I think it’s mroe Thanksgiving than anything else. People with relatives in town, etc.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 7:53 PM EST reply actions

So much for the birthday shutout. :(

by Cari on Nov 28, 2009 7:53 PM EST reply actions

That was a pretty slick backhand shot, gotta admit that.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 7:53 PM EST reply actions

Yeah. First angle made it look like it hit something and hopped into the net. No, it was just an unreal shot.

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 7:56 PM EST up reply actions

Man, we’re getting a lot of good chances, but Valiquette is stonwalling us.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 7:56 PM EST reply actions

Hey folks, just in. TK back, good news, he is looking good from the last couple minutes I caughyt

by AngelaMc on Nov 28, 2009 7:57 PM EST reply actions

I see our PP still sucks even with 3 players back. What a joke this team can be

by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 8:00 PM EST reply actions

It’s usually two things with the PP.
1. Too Much Passing
2. Too Much Individual play

by tehchico on Nov 28, 2009 8:02 PM EST up reply actions

Wow, we can’t even get pass the red line.

GENO!!

by Sid the captain on Nov 28, 2009 8:03 PM EST reply actions

Guess that’s the way we’ll have to get our goals.

by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 8:03 PM EST reply actions

So what was the deal with the net off the moorings? It looked to me like Valiquette and a defenseman pushed it off on their own without any help. Shouldn’t that have been 2 for delay of game?

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 8:04 PM EST reply actions

I was thinking the same thing.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 8:04 PM EST up reply actions

That would mean they would have to make a correct call, something they don’t seem to be familiar with these days

by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 8:05 PM EST up reply actions

Also, it would have given the Pens a PP, not something they seem to enjoy having these days. :p

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 8:06 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, we’d have just given up a shortie.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 8:30 PM EST up reply actions

I've got the MSG announcers on my feed.

They keep going on about Orpik being one of the best defensemen in the league. Crazy.

by wg1of5 on Nov 28, 2009 8:31 PM EST up reply actions

I mean, he hits hard and often, but he’s out of position a lot, and it wasn’t that long ago that he still got that old Josef Melichar confused look on his face when trying to figure out who to cover. I don’t get the idea that he’s one of the best, I just don’t.

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 8:32 PM EST up reply actions

He’s showed a lot of improvement in the last couple of seasons. He’s hitting smarter and getting caught out of position less. I think he does a good job overall.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 8:33 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, I agree. I do think he has a bit of an undeserved positive rep around the league, though…but it’s likely due to the potential everyone can see in him and is starting to show in actual games.

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 8:35 PM EST up reply actions

Speaking of Orpik getting caught out of position. MALKIN of all people had to bail him out.

by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 8:50 PM EST reply actions

To count as a shot on goal it has to be that it would have scored if not for the goalie. A shot off the bar can’t score.

by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 8:58 PM EST up reply actions

Game 7 of the Detroit series last year notwithstanding?

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 8:59 PM EST up reply actions

Um, ok

by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 9:01 PM EST up reply actions

That was the only game that mattered.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 9:01 PM EST up reply actions

Fine, if you all believe that Fleury can win a game for us, then I don’t know what you tell you

by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 9:03 PM EST up reply actions

Sometimes all you need is a goalie that won’t lose it for you.

Case in point, Barrasso.

Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89

by wg1of5 on Nov 28, 2009 9:04 PM EST up reply actions

He won 16 in last year’s playoffs. That’s the only stat I’m concerned about.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 9:04 PM EST up reply actions

No HE didn’t. The defense won those games, not Fleury.

If the Pens defense sucks, Fleury will not keep pucks out of the net.

by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 9:07 PM EST up reply actions

It’s clear we’re not going to agree on this one so I think we should agree to disagree.

by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 9:08 PM EST up reply actions

That’s literally every single goalie in the league. Hasek’s the only goalie I’ve ever watched who could bail out his team game after game after game, and he really only did that when he was with the Sabres.

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 9:08 PM EST up reply actions

Now, I also won’t claim that Fleury’s in the top 5. He might not even be in the top 10. If I had to pick a top 3, Anderson and Vokoun would be locks, and then maybe Tuukka Rask, I don’t know.

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 9:24 PM EST up reply actions

Unless you say we were depending on Max Talbot…

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 9:02 PM EST up reply actions

That is the question.

Joe Mullen made a career out of ’em. A very good career.

by tehchico on Nov 28, 2009 9:32 PM EST up reply actions

I met Joey Mullen once, on the ice at one of my practices.

He’s a pretty small dude. Awesome skater, though.

Yes. The difference was that Mario was right handed and so the stick was at a better angle from over there. I have no idea how Sid just did that.

by JustinM on Nov 28, 2009 9:38 PM EST up reply actions

Awesome… I did love Mario in the 90s but I was too young to pay attention to the details of hockey. Back then I would just watch them skate around and wait for a goal.

by Cari on Nov 28, 2009 9:38 PM EST up reply actions

As scary as he was in the ’90s, he was even better in the ’80s.

Rangers have Avery, i don’t pity any of them.

MSG announcers aren't saying much bad about the hit.

I think they realize that Avery is, indeed, a Ranger.

by Cari on Nov 28, 2009 10:01 PM EST reply actions

Exactly. Normally I’d advocate for putting out the grinders and seeing if they can do anything on the PP, but screw it. The way the Rangers are acting, they deserve every goal against they can give up.
