As a present from the team to MAF: no more 3 on 2’s and Flower will get the SO!

Beautiful setup for Cooke by Staal/Kennedy.
Nice save by Valiquette.

So what was the deal with the net off the moorings? It looked to me like Valiquette and a defenseman pushed it off on their own without any help. Shouldn’t that have been 2 for delay of game?
That would mean they would have to make a correct call, something they don’t seem to be familiar with these days

Yeah, we’d have just given up a shortie.

Great end to the period, Bing playing some great hockey tonight.

Very good period. Lots of great chances. It could be 5-1 if not for Valiquette making some big saves.
Indeed.
Blueshirt Banter is flippin’ out, insofar as three or four people can constitute a group flipout.

I've got the MSG announcers on my feed.
They keep going on about Orpik being one of the best defensemen in the league. Crazy.
Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89
I mean, he hits hard and often, but he’s out of position a lot, and it wasn’t that long ago that he still got that old Josef Melichar confused look on his face when trying to figure out who to cover. I don’t get the idea that he’s one of the best, I just don’t.
He’s showed a lot of improvement in the last couple of seasons. He’s hitting smarter and getting caught out of position less. I think he does a good job overall.

Sid is an awesome forechecker.

He’s improved significantly in that department in the last season and a half.
by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 8:38 PM EST up reply actions
Defensive, rather?
And yes, we are. Hate to see Geno turn it over at the blue line like he did, leading to one of the defensive-zone sequences.

To count as a shot on goal it has to be that it would have scored if not for the goalie. A shot off the bar can’t score.

Fine, if you all believe that Fleury can win a game for us, then I don’t know what you tell you
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 9:03 PM EST up reply actions
He won 16 in last year’s playoffs. That’s the only stat I’m concerned about.
by OlenWhitaker on Nov 28, 2009 9:04 PM EST up reply actions
No HE didn’t. The defense won those games, not Fleury.
If the Pens defense sucks, Fleury will not keep pucks out of the net.

It’s clear we’re not going to agree on this one so I think we should agree to disagree.

I seem to remember us winning the Stanley Cup with Fleury.

Orpik took him out.
Avery and Gonch were in front of him, as well.

Wow, nice. Jump on the hate bandwagon, awesome job
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 9:12 PM EST up reply actions
hate wagon? You’ve made your point a bunch of times with Fleury. I’m just saying you get used to it

There’s a difference between being a pessimist and just not liking a goal tender that consistently lets in soft goals, don’t ya think?
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 9:17 PM EST up reply actions
Technically speaking every goaltender consistently lets in goals. You’re entitled to your opinion, but no goaltender is going to post shutout after shutout
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
True, but Fluery isn’t one to get very many shut outs, if any.
Sorry I’m not a total homer and only talk about how great every player is. I’m the only one around here that calls out players when they suck & people around here get their panties in a bunch when I do.
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 9:25 PM EST up reply actions
It’s all good. Let’s all just chill a bit I guess, I don’t suspect everyone will agree with everyone else so to each his/her own. As long as we keep it hockey-centric I say whatevs. And just be cool with one another by the end of it all.

I was going by what I saw. Because I think Fleury sucks, now I’m a pessimist? Yeah, ok.
Don’t read my posts then
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 28, 2009 9:09 PM EST up reply actions
Don’t fight guys… I love Fleury but I’m okay with hearing different opinions, even negative ones.
plus this is nothing compared to what is going on over at the Rangers blog… they keep saying awful things about their team when the Pens score…
Compared to them, Ghostwalker40 is an optimist. :)
I noticed that too. Is it wrong that it made me smile a little?

Yeah, I agree. The Rangers seemed to have more jump in the second, despite the statistical pairity.

Eaton, the renowned goal scorer!
Cool to see Oprik get on the board, too. He’s had a pretty decent offensive presence in this game.

I think they realize that Avery is, indeed, a Ranger.

which, by the way, sent Avery down to the ice. Crosby was fine. Ya know, the guy Rangers fans label a diver
