can’t make mistakes like this against SJ. They’ll do that

Didn’t look like Fleury had a clue where the puck was.
He’s trying to play the puck again and someone should tell him he sucks at it
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 7, 2009 10:49 PM EST up reply actions
He’s by far one of the worst puck-handling goaltenders around. There’s a level of confidence when someone like, say, Brodeur goes to play the puck. But when MAF does it you just sit on the edge of your seat praying he gets it out of there.

Crap
I just turned on the game and we are already losing… I’m glad GoGo is playing but if he has the flu he probably won’t be at his best.
Am I the only one who fails to see what Chris Bourque brings to this team?

He was pretty good on his debut, but that’s about it

Without sounding like a complete downer, I don’t think it will matter much against the Sharks. I really think the Pens are going to have to really fight for this one.

This is a game that I don’t have high hopes for myself.
And to think that I made a whole new intro for my videos :-(

Yeah, but still look like the 3 Stooges trying to cross the blue line without going offsides
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 7, 2009 10:57 PM EST up reply actions
it’s simple hockey fundamentals and yet it looks like they’re even laboring through that.

A lotta bit. For as much as some people may be bashing MAF for his puck handling I think we also have to give him credit for being everywhere right now. This isn’t a healthy way of getting by. If it comes down to him making ridiculously awesome saves in front of the net but letting in goals like the one he let up, I’m going to need some sedatives to get to sleep tonight.

The Sharks play such a solid game. They just wait…and wait…and wait and then pounce on the mistakes
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Ugh, good God. It’s like Pittsburgh is on the PK for 20 minutes this period.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Just popped in.
Where the frick did Pavelski come from?
Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89
He’s back from an injury and wants everyone to know it.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Well isn't that just ducky.
Is it just me, or does this seem to happen a decent amount (that is, good players coming back from injury to play the Pens)?

I’ve always felt that teams make little milestones against the pens all the time – like Carey Price’s first win, Al Arbour’s milestone win, John Tavares first goal….you know, things like that. So I wouldn’t be surprised if a guy will come back from, say, a 40-game injury and score a hatty against the Pens.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
It’d be nice to get out of this period 2-1, but right now I think I’m more concerned about it being 3-0 first…
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
And hey, at least Mike Rupp wasn’t a punching bag there.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
MAF, what a save. Spared me the pains of 3-0 at least
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Am I the only one who misses when Crosby used to be able to go through 4 defenders and score a goal with somewhat regularity in his second season? He’s never been quite the same offensively since that long injury.
Oh I miss that play but I think a lot of teams starting to check out the video tape on him. I’m sure coaches werre constantly saying “play the man not the puck” in those exact situations
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I’d like to know why Crosby isn’t stepping up like he’s suppose to!!!!
When Crosby is out, Malkin plays like a beast!! He needs to do the same!
It’s disheartening but as Hooks noted the other day, you almost have to wonder if Crosby is hurt. He didn’t look like he had much jump to his step either on that Nabokov save too.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I almost think that if Malkin and Gonchar were healthy right now Sid would be taking a game or two off.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
There’s no sense in playing hurt & just making things worse.
I have a feeling that the Pens are at the start of a downward spiral, so he might as well sit out now while everyone else is
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 7, 2009 11:18 PM EST up reply actions
I wouldn’t say downward spiral because you have to remember it’s not like they’re losing with the team they started the season with. A lot of holes on this roster right now and with Letang going down now you almost have to wonder what the hell is going on. But i agree – sitting Crosby when the team is still at the top of the Atlantic isn’t the same as sitting a guy when the Pens are at the bottom of the division. It’s early. They can afford to do it me thinks.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
can’t blame it on Crosby only… guys like Guerin and Fedotenko haven’t put up any points… and after all they are the players who should step up… Kennedy is the only one playing with enough jump… followed by Kunitz and Rupp
You have to see it for yourself...
I’d say Guerin is stepping up. He just can’t buy a goal is all. He’s had some great chances
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 7, 2009 11:24 PM EST up reply actions
no doubt. he needs to crack one soon and get back in stride. Pens could really use it.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
And Kennedy is hurt too and doesn’t look like he’s ready to come back just yet. This isn’t a fun situation but I’d rather now than March/April.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
you can’t blame Fleury for everything. Look at him flopping all around the net right now making saves. It’s not like he’s playing poorly (minus that first one of course). Maybe he’ll need a rest, but you can’t say his play is reasoning for a benching
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Seconded
It’s not his fault the other team spends all it their time in our zone.
by SlayerGhaleon on Nov 7, 2009 11:31 PM EST up reply actions
Hope the Pens respond to an 0-2 first period deficit better than the Red Wings did
Can’t believe the Wings beat these Sharks a couple days ago, and then went and got whupped 5-1 by the Leafs….it just doesn’t compute.

Yeah, doesn’t make sense, does it?
That’s why I don’t buy into the Sharks being a great team, because they aren’t (my opinion)
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 7, 2009 11:30 PM EST up reply actions
I know! I started Osgood on my team for that reason. Way to screw up my GAA and SV%, jerk.

I had it too, I was just playing the quiet game hah

Dan Boyle is ridiculous.
Come on guys and gals. Stomach this one with me. We can get through this. We won’t see a win, but we can get through this.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
That was an obscene play by Boyle to keep that in the zone.
Eric Berry for sending the guy who wins the Heisman spinning 720 degrees in the air at the podium - or for intercepting it and returning it to where it rightfully belongs

SJ may be a lot of things but scrubs is definitely not one of em. They may lose every year in the first round but they are a good team

They’re only scrubs in the playoffs.

Wow this is going to be my shortest “highlights” video to date I think.
Hopefully the Pens score at least 1

Eesh, that Letang injury looks like it can easily be a dislocated/separated shoulder
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I’m with you Frank D…I have no idea why Bourque is in the line-up. Connor for that matter too. I’m sure there are better options on the farm. Lot of negative talk about Fleury…definitely not his fault..and a lot of negative comments in general. We can’t win them all, and San Jose is a very good team.
that save sequence right there is exactly the definition of this night

Not even fun to watch at this point, but I must soldier on

True but that’s not in the cards with all of our injuries, although I would love to be wrong
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 8, 2009 12:05 AM EST up reply actions
This is definitely true but I don’t see it happening tonight.
But let’s start with cracking the shutout. Then we can go from there.

heh well I guess that’s the new Max commercial
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Not sure what’s worse, the game or that
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 8, 2009 12:10 AM EST up reply actions
Wasn’t the point of the first commercial that they treat everyone like a superstar? Doesn’t this new commercial undermine the whole point?
I think they’re trying to say that you don’t have to pretend to be a superstar because you’ll be treated like one anyway.
Sadly, we have time to analyze this rather than the game :-\
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Look on the bright side, we still have the Stanley Cup, right??
I’m not worried about this game, or the next few for that matter. I just hope this skid doesn’t last very long.
I’m going to the Panthers game on the 23rd so I hope they get the suckiness out of them before then.
Is that one home or away? I have a friend who works with the Panthers as an account exec. Says the weather is nice as anything down there.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I live down here in south florida, so I only get to go to 2 Penguins games a year.
It’s always sunny and warm down here. Rarely have bad weather.

Was too lazy to check the sched before. It’s away. Can’t imagine you’ll have a hard time finding a seat
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Believe it or not, the best I could get is row 11 for some odd reason. That place barely sells 500 seats a game
I went to a Caps game last year, and it was pretty empty. Shame that they don’t support their team.
I don’t see the Panthers being down here for much longer the way they must be losing money
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 8, 2009 12:33 AM EST up reply actions
My friend is a Thrashers fan. Goes down to Philips a few times a year and always talks about how cheap tix are there too. Southeast hockey isn’t very strong, but of all the teams down there I’d say Atlanta is losing the least money. There owners own the Hawks and the arena itself, so it’s kinda hard to lose money when you don’t have to pay a lease. Smart management as far as I’m concerned.

Guess Bylsma is taking the loss and letting Sid relax a bit
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I don’t see much of a reason for Sid to play at all at this point
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 8, 2009 12:37 AM EST up reply actions
I think the Pens are just finishing off some checks right now. I don’t think they’re sending a message or anything since these two teams don’t play all that much but it’s gonna be a scrappy finish to this one
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I take that back, Mckee was the asshole

Ouch, McKee. Not a good way to fall. Come on man. That’s all the Pens need now is another injury
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
so wait a second, this just hit me.
Pens came into this game with six D-men.
Letang got hurt.
McKee got kicked.
So that leaves four defensemen, one of which is reportedly fighting the flu. Not good

Yay it's the supercuts power play
The other day, I walked past a Super Cuts here in Chicago and burst into a fit of giggles.
I nominate “Super Sucks,” until Malkin and Gonchar come back at least

I used to work for a minor league baseball team’s radio division. At one point they were on a 15-game losing streak but had to abide by the “play of the game” sponsor no matter what. I swear, sometimes it was something as simple as a line drive catch or a groundout back to the pitcher. Sometimes you really just have to force it.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
BTW, I read something on twitter the other day (take it for face value), but someone mentioned Miro Satan again. Yes, no, maybe?
I vote for no, even for league minimum. I don’t think the Penguins’ good fortune can be fixed by bringing someone in, it’s just about trying to maintain through the injuries.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I don’t think bringing someone in would do anything.
We have the man power, they are just sitting in a box eating hot dogs right now.
by GhostWalker40 on Nov 8, 2009 1:02 AM EST up reply actions
No, they just need to get better. Tonight we had TK, Gonchar, Talbot, and Geno out… then Fleury was pulled, Letang got hurt, and McKee got a misconduct. GoGo is sick and Crosby looks injured.
Basically we lost half the team. No excuses, etc… we should expect better from the group that remains. But mainly we just need these players to get better.
I agree on all those accounts (and the ones above from GW40 and Razor). Half this team is really banged up pretty bad right now. Unfortunately this is just one of those sit and wait sort of situations.
