Letang also battled through a shoulder injury in the playoffs, not sure if it’s related at all (or even the correct shoulder) but maybe that could factor into things.

Well at least we can be thankful for the great start. Not that I expect the Pens to drop 7 in a row or anything, but they’re still well over .500.
Still, it’s a bit upsetting to think how good a start they were really off to…

Come on guys, this isn’t the end of the world. This is why we have a deep farm team. Gogo got a chance to shine last year, this could be an opportunity for someone else to show us what they can do. Our season’s not ruined, we’re just going to have to lean on some guys a little harder than we usually do.

Aw, hell. Thanks for passing it on, Hooks.
No, the season’s not ruined at all. It’s very young, and we know that a great finish counts for much more than a great start. We can have that. Ours is also not the only team experiencing bad luck with injuries. But oh, it’s gonna be an even harder few weeks for the Pens and their fans.

As an outsider(Flyers fan), that watches a lot of Penquins games. Could all these injuries, not the Gonchar one, that’s a broken bone. But could the rest of these injuries be a direct result of the all out style that the Penquins play. Last year when this style was implemented they were at the bottom of the standings and every game was a playoff game. Players play through pain when the season is on the line. I am not saying the Pens are sissy’s and don’t want to play, but teams are more apt to sit a guy that tweaked something early in the season. Every game I’ve watched prior to the injury bug they seem to play every shift like their hair is on fire. I guess my question is does the Pens system lend itself to regular season hockey.
After 2 years of watching the Pens knock out the Flyers I have built up a lot of hatred for this team. But watching them go through 3 rounds of the playoffs, and the effort they displayed in the early part of this season they have gained my respect. I just think playing every shift as hard as they have to play lends itself to all these minor injuries. Maybe I am wrong, because every team has players dropping like flies.
