"I didn't even have a chance to bump him, or anything like that, during the game, so whatever happened, I have no clue. He kind of jumped me from behind. ... I wish he'd given me a heads-up, but that's his kind of game."
Ruslan Fedotenko doesn't get Sean Avery (but who does?) This is of course referencing Saturday's game against the Rangers when Sean Avery decided to jump Fedotenko. As Tenks mentioned in the article, what's stopping him from doing that to Gaborik, a guy who doesn't want to fight, in an effort to take him off the ice? Does something need to be done to stop this sort of thing?

Did anyone else hear Noted Goal Scorer Mike Rupp call out Avery after the game last night? Errey got quite a chuckle out of it.
Tenks has a good point. As far over the line as the Hartnell biting incident was, at least he was locked with a willing combatant. The idea that you can randomly pick an unsuspecting player to mug out of nowhere is seriously bush league. Avery can be counted on to find new ways to rewrite the disciplinary code and be a total clown doing it.
Scott Hartnell probably picked up that little trick from former Flyer Derian Hatcher, who gnawed on Travis Zajac’s finger a couple of seasons ago during a net-mouth scrum. I was actually at that game with my dad. We had seats behind one of the nets and Brodeur blanked the Flyers on the way to a 2-0 Devils victory. I think I vaguely remember that scrum. I know Zajac reacted like something stung him and after the game an article on the internet said that his hand was bandaged, but Zajac tacitly refused to confirm or deny the alleged biting incident, which is usually the typical party line from the Devils camp (i.e. say as little as possible and make sure any of what you do say either makes no sense or is ambiguous or neutral). I hate Derian Hatcher. People always used to rag on Scott Stevens, saying he was little more than a thug on skates, while Derian Hatcher was going around doling out cheap shots and biting people. Say what you want about Stevens, but I’m pretty sure he never actually bit anyone.
I think that article also mentions Avery tried to take a head shot to Sid’s head. Crosby said he saw it at the last second and averted it.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are your Stanley Cup Champions!!
yeah, another incident worth noting. And then there was Avery’s “accidental/incidental” crash into Fleury last night. The guy’s a disgrace to humanity. Never mind hockey.

Next time I feel compelled to say anything bad about Fleury, I will remember how he whacked Avery with his stick, most likely grinning underneath his mask. Sean Avery’s my first answer to the question, “Lilo, why don’t you support your home team?”

Let us not forget the “Avery Rule” for his face shielding Brodeur. As long as hockey’s been played, you never needed a “rule” to know not to do that… until Avery.

I loved it when Rangers fans said he defied the rule book and made them create a rule specifically for him. No, he defied logic, common sense and just overall credibility. It’s one of those things where I’m sure the people who wrote the rule book were like, “Do we really need to include this? Nah, no one can be THAT stupid.”
Enter Sean Avery.

Actually, I thought the whole stick waving thing was pretty creative; I had never thought about it. At the time, was there a rule against it? Nope. Had anyone in 120+ years of hockey ever done it? Nope. Had anyone in 120+ years of hockey ever thought about doing it? Probably not. Obviously, he should have assumed that doing it was totally against hockey etiquette, but that’s just Avery – he had already completely disregarded hockey etiquette as apart of his game by then.
I am not condoning what Avery did, buit I think Tenks got him in the face with the butt end of his stick in front of the net. I clearly remember Avery pulling away from Tenks, looking at the ref for a call and THEN jumping him.
I can honestly say that I was truly amused by his comments about Aliza Dushku. I will be the first one to stand up (anonymously of course) and say that almost every time I saw an ex-girlfriend with another guy, I thought the same thing he said. To his credit, how many other below marginal cheap shot artists can stay relevant for as long as he has?
He dated Elisha Cuthbert I think… Why do I even know that? Shameful.
