Cocktail Recipe--Super Duper Slapshot
Eighth in a series honoring individual Penguins players and their notable achievements through almost the only creative medium in which I can make something worth sharing--alcohol.
It was easy to criticize Pascal Dupuis for his inability to score goals last season. Fun, too. But he's worked hard to improve his scoring, and it shows in the 2009-10 season. During the December 10 game against the Montreal Canadiens, it was none other than Dupuis who scored the game-winning goal, a killer slapshot. The hand-reattachment surgery we Pensburghers have joked about all season long seems to have paid off!
This happens to be what I drank last night. I combined cinnamon schnapps and hot coffee simply because I was cold even in my burqa-fit powder blue jersey, penguin-printed pajama pants, and fluffy panda slippers. (I know, stylish, right?) This is a little harsh, but not at all bad. In fact, I thought it was pretty decent. Like Duper's slapshot, it gave this Penguins fan exactly what I needed.
Super Duper Slapshot
1 ounce cognac
1 ounce cinnamon schnapps
brewed black coffee
dash of cinnamon
sugar or Splenda to taste
Pour cognac and schnapps into coffee cup; stir. Fill cup with black coffee. Add cinnamon and sugar if desired; stir again.

I enjoy mixing booze with coffee. Who doesn’t have a coffee at work and say, “This could use a little Bailey’s?” Especially during meetings.
I’mma try this one out. To be honest I think I’m going to give it a go during my Xmas festivities. Thanks a lot Lilo.

Lilo, have you thought about putting all these recipes together in one special edition “A Penguin’s guide to drinking”?:)
You have to see it for yourself...
It’s also been suggested at Puck Huffers, where I also share these in comments. I’m always at loose ends in January, because Beloved has tons of work and mine is very slow. So I like to have a January project. Mine is going to be a blog where I put all these together. (Perhaps there will be also a bit more commentary, some pictures, an occasional food recipe, etc.)
I’m so glad people here like these! Thanks!
