looking forward to another good one. As good as Tuesday’s game was, it’s always nicer when they do it on Philly ice.

BTW conspiracy theory Im sure in Flyers minds, of course that wasnt a high stick on crosbyy..just the league wanting the Pens to win
of course. Because ya know, Crosby can fake an obvious stick to the face

wow that was another great setup

it’s like they literally just show up where the puck is. Not the other way around

I think so. I like what I’ve seen in the last two games.

solid fight id give that round to rupp
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 17, 2009 7:18 PM EST reply actions
Rupp definitely had the upper hand. Has the overall reach too of course. But they fought constantly too when Rupp was with NJ and Asham with the Islanders. I’ve seen it go both ways in the past

wow that was another soft penalty
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 17, 2009 7:23 PM EST reply actions
It didn’t look like it was between his legs to me, although I don’t have a very high-res view.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 17, 2009 7:25 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah, TK only had one hand on his stick; I don’t see how he could have sent the guy flying unless he took a dive.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 17, 2009 7:25 PM EST up reply actions
true should have controled the rebound

was that a penalty on carter that stoped play?
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 17, 2009 7:30 PM EST reply actions
yup. I thought it was interference but roughing in that spot is just the same

not as good of a pp this time as the first one.

Dupuis back out there. Good sign at least. Now Feds limping off

I have often wondered how anyone could possibly become a Flyers fan in the first place. I imagine the exchange goes something like this:
Flyers fan: Hey, check this out; it’s a bunch of cement-headed goons who suck at hockey!
Prospective fan: Hmm. Sounds interesting. If only they were ugly as hell and hadn’t won a Stanley Cup since before I was born.
Flyers fan: Dude, it’s your lucky day!
Of course, I can understand it more if they’re actually from Philadelphia. Living in Philly has got to mess with your sanity. If I lived for five years in a place like that I would probably be incapable of rational decision making too. Of course, if I was ever capable of rational decision making, would I live in Philly to begin with?
I don’t live far from Philly. Old City is a really nice area but the heart of the city is just annoying to deal with. I really only go for games now, and by that I mean for whatever team the Philly team is playing against in whatever sport.

decent first period. 1 for 2 on the pp rupp winning the fight billy with the goal not a bad first 20

The world has such messed up priorities. Why should there be any traffic? Shouldn’t they be watching the game too? I don’t understand the world.

you missed a good Billy G goal, an intense Fleury save and a weird Flyers goal that can be categorized as lucky
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Good period for the Pens…Nice dirty goal on the PP.
Flyers fans seem pretty fed up…I think they actually booed their own team more or just as much as they did the Crosby chant.
I love the new FSN Crosby hat trick commercial, using “Let It Snow” as the music is pretty creative.

At the game
Pretty interesting mix of pens fans here. I may have some pics to post from the game. Let’s go pens.

there was a pretty decent cheer when they scored.

It’s a nice play on words, but I can think of about a thousand more suitable names heh
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Looks like the Flyer just lost an edge there….the ref saw Geno’s stick in the vicinity and called it.
871
Yeah. That was a BS call that cost us a goal.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 17, 2009 8:06 PM EST up reply actions
Rupp with a great chance there. Just shot wide.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
neither do i. he doesn’t play the position comfortably and it shows with the penalties he’s taking
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Yeah I think it’s definitely noticable that he doesn’t look comfortable.
by packallday555 on Dec 17, 2009 8:14 PM EST up reply actions
damn… stop calling it a penalty every time Geno tries to make a defensive play…
You have to see it for yourself...
Or happens to be near a guy that falls down.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 17, 2009 8:12 PM EST up reply actions
What do you expect; Flyers fans are morons.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 17, 2009 8:19 PM EST up reply actions
Loudest Crosby sucks chant ever. Haha. So awesome.
by tehchico on Dec 17, 2009 8:17 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Yeah, he definitely needs to work on that aspect of his game. His defensive positioning is poor and he takes dumb penalties trying to make up for it.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 17, 2009 8:22 PM EST up reply actions
well in his defense, he’s not exactly a shot-blocking Dman. But I think if he works on it he can be a really solid two-way forward within the next 3-5 years
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
After going 0 for 23, I’ll take 2 for 4 or 5.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 17, 2009 8:23 PM EST up reply actions
exactly. We went almost three weeks at one point seeing maybe one or two goals. Beggars can’t be choosers. It’s already been a solid game on the PP as far as I’m concerned
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Yeah
Hard to complain after two PP goals.
by packallday555 on Dec 17, 2009 8:23 PM EST up reply actions
it was bound to happen, theyve been playing like poo lately soo, only a matter of time before they have a good game. Fun to watch
Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 17, 2009 8:32 PM EST up reply actions
they looked amp’d up a bit. I don’t think they want to lose to the Pens again, let alone on home ice
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Man I think Tenk got his face chopped off there
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
‘Cause they’re a bunch of assholes who will boo an injured man.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 17, 2009 8:35 PM EST up reply actions
He really isn’t impressing me at all. I mean, I know the Flyers brought him in to go up against guys like Malkin, Ovechkin and Crosby in the east, but when a guy like Fedotenko – not noted for his nifty foot work – can get around you, then I think it says something.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Pronger’ss been slowing down for a couple years now. He’s still effective but hasn’t been a superstar for a while.
Looked like Coburn was trying for the head there and Tenk noticed at the last second.
But i don’t get why Errey and Steigy are suspecting it’s his leg/foot. He went down holding his face
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Think it was that beatdown of Toronto early this year where we had three.

Coach Lemieux
those kids on austin lemieux’s team are so FREAKIN lucky, i’m assuming at the 1st practice, he’s like, ok, everyone gets 1 autograph, LOL,
on the game, KUNITZ needs to score a goal, he makes way to much money to be this pathetic with sid
The goalies have been the best players on the ice in this one.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 17, 2009 8:59 PM EST up reply actions
yeah that was just about as close as you can get without it going in
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Yeah, it’s like they’re trying to look like douchebags.

i'd rather be listening to the wings-lightning
but since the Wings radio station is being crappy and won’t let me connect to its feed, I guess I’ll make do with Mike Lange…

Watching Philly broadcast
And wow, their announcers are homers. Send Godard in. He’s dressed right?
Have you listened to Errey and Steigerwald? Seriously?
And they’re PHILLY announcers. They’re allowed to want us to win, ya know.

It’s really any broadcast. I can’t stand Rangers broadcasts at all. Prob my least favorite of all, Devils not withstanding.

Truth. And they’re allowed. It’s their job.

I’m watching the Philly feed too.
It’s a little much when they accuse Crosby of basically diving when he got high-sticked and they also insinuated that PIttsburgh stat-keepers are pretty liberal in dishing out hits (we’ll see about that).
Definitely not the worst batch of homers coughCOLORADOcough, but they do naturally (and obviously) cheer for the Flyers. Thus they annoy me.
I’m sure FSN Pittsburgh is worse for a non-Pens fan.
You come at the king, you best not miss.
It is like listening
to two fans announce the game.
That’s kinda the point, actually. It’s a local broadcast.

another big save from Bobby Boucher
(yes, i know his name is Brian, but it’s more fun to imagine Adam Sandler in net)

and by the way, I really don’t think Sid was onside there
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
anyone know what the rule book actually says on offsides, it seems every ref calls it differently, when someone has a skate on the line etc????
If one skate is touching the line, you’re onside.

Who are the announcers on this FSN feed, anyway?

gotta agree with Travis
Granted, I’ve only listened to a few minutes, but they seem pretty homeristic

god when geno gets going he’s unstoppable, he & staal, work so well together, i’m still miffed mad max is scratched,
Yeah, we’ve looked really soft in that department in this game.

We gave Lemieux a standing ovation when he returned from cancer. He cried.
But yeah, you’re right.

Good game, folks.
Shootouts suck, win or lose. Should’ve been a tie. Still a great game.
Broad Street Hockey - SB Nation's Philadelphia Flyers Blog. Makin' it look mean since 1967.
This is why Bylsma works on shootouts so much in practice. He knows what’s up. Make a game out of it, keep the guys loose and they’ll show up big time
