Just remembered how much I hate Buffalo’s announcer
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
If you get the NHL Network you can probably catch his calls on the highlights. He’s too over the top for my liking
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I especially hate how he says “SCOOORRRRRRRRRRRRREEESSS” till he’s completely out of breath
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Probably, but I find his voice grating.
Of course, Mike Lange’s got a voice for silent films, so who knows. :)
Yeah, ditto. The tedious brand of hockey Buffalo plays makes for great PK.

Grier was definitely all over the place, but the Pens should at least be able to gain the zone with the extra man
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Terrible. Did we even get one shot on goal?

Eaton takes away about 5 feet of ice in the lane when he lays his stick down. awesome work
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
the Pens are playing some lame hockey this period
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
seems like we cant keep the puck on our sticks

oh nice goal to end the period

Nice work by him too. Keeping it in. Putting the shot on. Good hustle
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
wow Crosby was owning the ice on that shift. intense
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Come on guys, we all know the refs are on our side. People have been telling us that for years
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Oh, yeah. I almost forgot about The Great Conspiracy.

I take care of things I’ve been putting off all day that I never wanted to do to begin with. On a game day I often assign certain things just for intermission
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
negative. I don’t think I’ve dusted a single day in my life
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I spent this intermission with a stick and puck shooting into a cardboard box until I broke a lamp.

that sounds like something i would try to do until my GF talks me out of it.
Playoff Beard Version 7.0.....
Lucky for me, there’s no one around to know.

i knew the storm was coming, so I hit up a rink yesterday just to get my shots in for a few days
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
You in D.C. Frank?
One thing I miss about Pittsburgh, is that men’s leagues cost about $100 each. I would play in about 3 or 4 different men’s leagues.
Down here, each session costs $500, so I can only afford to play in one league. I am lucky to get on the ice one time per week.
Should be. Montclair isn’t a cheap area but I know they have some leagues up there
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
that was a terrible acting job to try and get a penalty by lalaime.
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 19, 2009 8:06 PM EST reply actions
I don’t know if that was acting. He got creamed pretty well, only it was by his own guy.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 19, 2009 8:07 PM EST up reply actions
The feed I’m watching keeps dubbing sound over the video. They just did a mockery announcement that said “Tentative timeout for douchebagging.”
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Nice save on Letang. Guess Lalame is feeling better
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
is it just me or is dupuis looking much better than earlier this season he really seems to be buzzing around the puck when he is out there. maybe its just playing on a line with geno but he doesnt appear to suck quite as much
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 19, 2009 8:10 PM EST reply actions
He is much improved this year. Definitely.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 19, 2009 8:11 PM EST up reply actions
Jesus. Lalime is playing like it’s f’ing 1996 again
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
No fault to the PP on that one. Seriously that was all Lalime
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
I know
I was celebrating and then realized he missed it…

Good PP
Can’t believe Guerin and Malkin couldn’t finish on those attempts. I love watching Crosby pass out there on the PP.
awesome looking puck control by the offense

hopefully this penalty doesn’t kill the Pens’ flow. They really had it going out there these past few minutes
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
another soff call these refs arent particularly great tonight.
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 19, 2009 8:15 PM EST reply actions
Yeah
That wasn’t a trip on Malkin earlier either.
by packallday555 on Dec 19, 2009 8:15 PM EST up reply actions
It was good to see Sid shoot on that PP.
I didn’t see McKee’s penalty…fsn didn’t show it…their cameras have been a little off tonight.

what a save there by flower.
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 19, 2009 8:22 PM EST reply actions
we need a pp goal right here
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 19, 2009 8:25 PM EST reply actions
It’s really amazing how many pucks have trickled through the crease for both teams tonight. and yet it’s only 1-1
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Man
It’s been a whole lot of fun to watch the PP tonight but we need to put one away. I think Crosby was going too on that rebound of the boards.
Malkin is making a lot of bad decisions with the puck. He either holds onto it too long when he should shoot right away, or he shoots right away when the lane is clogged.
I hope he gets it together.
Good point
On the cross ice passes from Crosby he should have fired right away. He’s thinking too much out there, and it’s making him hesitant.

eaton is hurt thats never a good thing, that means 5 dmen the rest of the night
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 19, 2009 8:32 PM EST reply actions
what happened? I got up for like, 2 minutes, and someone gets hurt
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Ouch. They just showed the replay.
That’s the kind of injury that puts Eaton out until April. He is due for a big one. His luck hasn’t been great in the ’burgh.
Or what did it look like he hurt I should say?
by packallday555 on Dec 19, 2009 8:34 PM EST up reply actions
Fell on it funny during that play where he and Greer (sp?) both went down next to the Penguin net.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 19, 2009 8:37 PM EST up reply actions
fell into the boards but he did skateoff at regular speed wich leads me to belive more of a tweek than a bad injury
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 19, 2009 8:38 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah. Looked momentarily painful but not disabling. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him later in the game.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 19, 2009 8:39 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah. There was that two-year span where he was hurt
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
Wow. We dominated in that period, yet somehow we didn’t score. Sensational save by Flower kept us even.
Indeed, we did dominate. Somehow, the Sabres came away with more shots in that period. Very un-Penguin like…Only three shots on the PP – just goes to tell you the stat sheet doesn’t tell the whole story.
871
I don’t think the stat keepers are giving us proper credit tonight.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 19, 2009 8:40 PM EST up reply actions
They said we only had one scoring chance in the first period. Kunitz got a goal, so what about the Crosby chance?
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 19, 2009 8:41 PM EST up reply actions
I hate to be cliche, but the only stat that matters is the one that currently says 1-1. And you gotta give 110% out there. And you gotta show a lotta hear. And you gotta go out there and grind it out for 60 minutes. And a shot on goal is never a bad play. And you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
The (full) stats do tell the story: Pens have 13 SOG, 15 shots blocked, and 16 shots missed, so they had many more attempted shots than the Sabres. They just need to actually, you know, hit the net.
Yes, hitting the net and the back of the net a few times next period would help our causes.
Speaking of hitting the net, does anyone remember this goal? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paxsWsE5eY0
It’s bad quality but, it’s one of the best hand-eye goals I’ve ever seen…I mean, he deflected it twice!
871
so on a side not i got to see the baby pens on wed lose to the admrials here in norfolk and john curry looks freaking good for an ahl goaltender. he left in 2 goals neither of which were particularly bad beats but he did make some spectacular saves on. and we have very little offense in swb just to let you guys know.
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 19, 2009 8:47 PM EST reply actions
That’s tight, I’ve been down to Norfolk a couple times (I grew up in Richmond)
WB/S does struggle to fill the net, a lot of their great AHL scorers like Minard and Taffe have moved on. I think they’re looking to develop young forwards like Johnson, Jeffrey, Tangradi and Caputi more than actually contending for titles like in years past.
You come at the king, you best not miss.
i was impressed with caputi’s stick handleing and tangardi looks like in a year or two could be a great ron francis type of power forward. i was also suprised to see very little grit to the baby pens. not like in years past with guys like bonive

another penalty???
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 19, 2009 8:57 PM EST reply actions
what?????
interference? thats bs.
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Dec 19, 2009 8:57 PM EST reply actions
Did anyone even know that would be an infraction?
It’s not Donovan McNabb not knowing a game could end as a tie, but not every player knows every rule, and frankly I didn’t know that either.
You come at the king, you best not miss.
Hate to say it, the ref was right. Rule 56.2 which governs when an interference penalty shall be called includes the following:
A minor penalty shall be imposed on any identifiable player on the players’ bench or penalty bench who, by means of his stick or his body, interferes with the movements of the puck or any opponent on the ice during the progress of the play. In addition, should a player about to come onto the ice, play the puck while one or both skates are still on the players’ or penalty bench, a minor penalty for interference shall be assessed.
Dang. Thought I knew every rule in the book. Guess I was wrong.
by OlenWhitaker on Dec 19, 2009 9:04 PM EST up reply actions
I’m kind of surprised the ref knew to call it. It’s a poorly-kept secret that most refs (in any sport) don’t have all the rules memorized either.
I guess that’s the sort of thing you learn by trial and error when reffing in the minors or something
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
what the hell? every time i wander away for a second something happens. what put him in the box?
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com and twitter.
He was stepping out of the box and played the puck before he was fully on the ice. Apparently, that’s a penalty.

Aside from the fact he graduated from Harvard, Craig Adams has to be one of the smatest hockey players around.
