Our long national nightmare appears to be over.

Bourque basically played with the Pens while Talbot was out (and a little longer thanks to Kunitz/Kennedy injuries and Cooke suspension).

He had 2 months to prove himself, and he didn’t. Nice knowing ya.

Time to see if your prediction was right. Will the Caps claim him?

by JustinM on Dec 4, 2009 2:51 PM EST up reply actions

No clue. I’m not sure what their cap situation looks like. They’ve put guys on LTIR but also called guys up so I’m not sure if they’ve opened enough space to claim him yet. I thought Nylander would be gone much sooner than this.

Just read in Japers’ Rink comments that the Caps claimed him. I’m more happy that I was right than I am that we have CBo.

Sucks for a guy to lose his job

but let’s face it. the kid isn’t an nhl player. especially not on the pittsburgh penguins.

by BDON911 on Dec 4, 2009 1:27 PM EST reply actions

Shame, I hoped the kid would have panned out, this is unavoidable though, he just did not bring enough to justify his spot on the roster.

On a human level, we wish him well and hope he lands on a team that allows him the time to develop some kind of scoring touch in the future. Worst case scenario for him is that daddy made alot of money, so I don’t feel too bad.

From a rabid fan perspective, he was the worst player in a Penguins uni for the last 3+ years. I am pissed off on how long the Penguins let him continue to make the same bad plays, offensively, without doing this MUCH MUCH sooner. I would have rather seen ANY other player from WBS get called up than to continuosly watch this bum attempt to play this beautiful game.

He blew his best shot at making an NHL roster. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!

by stoopidtom on Dec 4, 2009 2:43 PM EST via mobile reply actions

We’ve had worse players. Eric Godard.

by ipenguin67 on Dec 4, 2009 2:51 PM EST reply actions

Goddard has a purpose and is the best at SOMETHING on the team. Borque had neither.
And don’t give me the whole Rupp as enforcer argument…he is a noted goal scorer.

by Ulf Murphy on Dec 4, 2009 3:21 PM EST up reply actions   1 recs

But everyone on the Pens has proven themselves more than capable of fighting and winning fights. Godard’s “talent” is redundant. He takes up a roster spot that should be used for trying to develop a WB/S player.

by ipenguin67 on Dec 4, 2009 4:40 PM EST up reply actions

Would you like to see Goddard sit against Philly or Toronto? But, I agree he s/b a healthy scratsh against soft teams. I want Tangradi up as soon as possible.

by Ulf Murphy on Dec 4, 2009 5:00 PM EST up reply actions

I wouldn’t care. Rupp, Guerin, Kunitz, Cooke and others can all handle any policing that needs to be done. The only reason Toronto dresses someone like Orr or the Flyers someone like Cote is they expect someone like Godard. They’re not gonna send them out to fight Crosby.

by ipenguin67 on Dec 4, 2009 5:10 PM EST up reply actions

I think Tangradi makes the jump next year. He’s still getting accustomed to life on the AHL level. He’s also had a tough start to the year so far with injuries and such, so I think the Pens’ brass would like to see him get a good year of AHL work under his belt before promoting him.

No no no F&B, we need some internal hatred. There’s always one. I reckon Nylander was the Caps’ pick, yes?

We have to find someone who least suspects it. Someone really vulnerable. Exploit their every weakness. Ride them out of town. Treat them like dirt. If we can’t find an unwilling subject in the system then I demand Shero go out at once and sign a scrub. Pens Nation needs this!

the new hands are paying off…

my vote is to bring back the kunitz debate.

by spookygeek on Dec 4, 2009 3:35 PM EST up reply actions

I agree with the Kunitz debate. Haven’t missed him too much whiles he’s been out… wouldn’t be bothered if he took his time coming back.

I have never wanted to kick some one in the balls as much as I do Chris Bourque. The opportunities he had pretty much every game! And the fact that Mike Lange and the Ol’ Two- Niner had to try their hardest not to laugh at him when he would hit the ice. It’s a bout time Pens.
