Scouting the Enemy: The Toronto Make Beliefs

The Penguins had what some call a "signature win" over one of the top teams in the NHL, the San Jose Sharks.  But in an 82 game schedule, if you don't exhibit some consistency it's all for naught.

The Leafs come into this game winning just 5 of 18 games in the calendar year 2009, and have won 1 out of their last five overall.

Toronto might be in 11th place in the conference and 15 points out of the playoffs, but Brian Burke has taken over and you know he's ready to make changes and everyone knows it.  These guys are playing for their livelihoods and they know it.

Player to keep an eye on: Nik Antropov.  "Antro" has 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) in 25 career games against the Penguins.  That's a .84 points/game average, which is much better than his .55 points/game versus the rest of the NHL.

All the more reason to pick him up.

Unfortunately, before the 1 for 5 stretch started, they had a win…against us. We need this one.

Let's go Pens!

So the Penguins are a shoo-in then?

No. But I don’t see where anyone here said they were. But I can understand your angst against Pens fans. It must be hard to see a team who’s management has been able to bring their team out of the basement while your team just stinks year in and year out.

You’re in tenth place in the east.

You’re five points behind Buffalo and absolutely collapsing against the Leafs.

This is true. But at least we stand a chance, small as it may be.

The only people playing make believe are Pens fans that think that axing Therien is going to end the rot…

I just thought of one!

No no, we’re much better than the Lightning. Perhaps the Pittsburgh Hurricanes or Pittsburgh Panthers is more fitting.
