Interesting speculation coming out around today's Anaheim/Pittsburgh trade. Maple Leaf Hotstove believes there's a hidden incentive for the Leafs in all of this. Is Jordan Staal on the move to Toronto?

Uh o

From the looks of that I can’t say i agree with it at all, honestly imo the best part about the whitney trade is tangradi. Kunitz is a nice addition but hes only a 20 goal scorer which if satan played with crosby all year i bet he scores just as much if not more. If we are going to give up tangradi for another mediocre forward in stajan and a defenseman in kaberle while giving up staal. I dunno im not a gm obviously but staal should command a lil more than that, hopefully this is all speculation and we get something better than stajan if thats the case cause i do like kaberle not sure we need him but ill take him

staal should command a lil more than that

Right on. I really think Staal is the next Peca in the making. The Blue Jackets dropped a pretty hefty contract on him before last season. It just goes to show you that those PK specialists and consistent role players can fetch a pretty penny on the market as well.

I like the idea of holding on to Tangradi. Let him get mixed up in the AHL and see what he does from there.

I will admit though, I’m still trying to figure out what the Ducks see in Whitney. If anything it allows them to move another guy on the blue line like Pronger or Niedermayer, both names heavily rumored to be on the move.

I still see value in Whitney

I don’t think the Ducks got screwed over by any means… Whitney has skill… he just needs to get his act together. It wouldn’t be totally shocked if he scores 25-30 goals next season.

Oddly enough, it was just announced that he may need another surgery on his foot during the offseason. The Ducks seem cool with it, but I still think the Pens got the better end of the deal.

Pittsburgh Adds: Kaberle, Stajan, Kunitz
Pittsburgh Drops: Whitney, Staal
Toronto Adds: Staal, Tangradi

According to this, the Pens trade Staal and Tangradi for Kaberle (a defenseman they don’t need who already has a no trade clause) and Stajan (career high 16 NHL goals that’s a UFA after next season).

Yeah, we’re gonna pass on that.

What?

Trading a great 2nd line center who could play on the top line and Whitney for an older (If slightly better) version of Whits, and two solid wingers who aren’t going to light up the net. Yeah right.

The leafs would crap themselves if this went through, Staal and Tangradi look to be the best parts of the deal and currently Pitt holds them both.

I like the first trade, this would be stupid.

Yeah. I find this trade rumor to be rediculous. This sounds like the typical overrating of Toronto and Montreal players by their fans. No way this goes through as it is in this article.
