NOTES
Marc-Andre Fleury gets the start for the Pens as they hope to extend their current win streak to eight. As Hooks mentioned earlier, Petr Sykora is out with a shoulder injury.
Steve Mason has an upper respiratory cold and there's a chance he may be a gametime decision. Should he sit, the Pens will face Wade Dubielewicz, the guy they lit up for four goals back in February.
Michael Peca returns to Columbus's lineup for the first time in four games. He's easily one of the better penalty killers in the league and will likely look to shake things up on the fourth line now that he's not Lindros'd anymore.
(PS to Pensburgh newcomers: Lindros'd is one of the many terms for concussion).

Have at it.
Didn’t think I’d be here tonight, so this is a pleasant surprise.
Splurged for $10 and sponsored Bob Errey’s page on Hockey-Reference.com. There’s real potential for comedy gold, there.
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
Oh that’s awesome, Justin, can’t wait to see what you do with it.
I’m surprised the page was available given Errey’s internet popularity.
Likewise (that it was available). Frankly not sure what I’m going to do with it, but I’m sure it’ll involve rotating various quotes. You can change those things anytime you want so long as it passes their guidelines.
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
Crosby just made a behind the back pass at full rush that someone will one day write a book about. Wow.
And then a cross-ice pass to Kunitz who couldn’t put it home. But it still looked pretty
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Yeah, the second pass should never have happened. Mason hardly moved as a result.
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
exactly haha Three hours from Pitt. You bet die-hards will take that trip
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
I know the Puck Huffers made the trip.
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
STAAL might have even had that one.
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
no doubt. But he’s already working up a sweat out there. It should hopefully be a very busy night for him

I like what I see from Craig Adams. The guy grinds and hits and that’s about all you can ask from a fourth liner. Every time he’s on the ice you know it. Solid role player trade.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Yeah, as I said somewhere else he reminds me of an Adam Hall type player (though Hall was decent at face-offs).
On second thought. You show up. Columbus scores.
Get out.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
The announcers said he may have deflected it. I think if anything he changed the angle of the shot by stopping the follow through.

Ugh. This is what happens when I get distracted by trying to find out the name of the actor with the gigantic head and normal-sized body. The Jackets score and I still don’t know his name.
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
Meh, nothing I can think of. I had it in my head he was in The Goonies, but no.
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
No, I think that’s a normal-sized head on a puny body. (Although, just to be funny, I almost said, “And I don’t mean Tom Cruise” in the original comment.)
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
I came to the realization that it’s Eric Stoltz in The Mask. His head is obviously not normally that size, but I couldn’t find pictures of him from that movie for the life of me for some reason. I looked again, and BAM. Right there in front of me. Oh, the vagaries of Google.
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
Not really. Kinda a weird goal. I think Pitt has the upper hand in terms of play right now
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Actually the BJs have been taking the play to the Penguins after about the first 5-6 minutes which was all Pittsburgh.
ok…you’re right. The Pens haven’t crossed the blue line for two minutes and are now on the PP. Great.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Thankfully, their PP is even worse than ours! :D
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
The Columbus PP is very wide open so far. Nothing very formulaic about this…

“Slash by Crosby goes undetected” says the Columbus announcer.
It wasn’t across the wrists. It wasn’t above the waist. It hit Nash’s skate.
Shut…up…
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
the justintv feed is great i can hear a guy grunting as if the outcome of this game determined if he is goin to live or not
If you didn’t know Nash was the Columbus captain before this game the announcer reminds you every single time he touches the puck.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
All right. Not horrible. Not great. A tolerable first period.

I don’t think the five dollar foot long song is as popular as Subway seems to think it is.
Let's go Pens!
This whole Ken Hitchcock thing makes me uncomfortable. It brings back memories of the Pens losing in Al Arbour’s milestone of wins last season out on Long Island…
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Yeah I saw that one too, I had a free preview of the NHL Network last week…Pretty sweet, I’m trying to get my roommates to spring for it.
i have timewarner and its only 5.oo more a month for just the nhl network

Sweet, maybe I’ll have to ask about….Even though dealing with customer “service” representatives is terrible.

Pens need to add some pressure. This is looking a bit one-sided right now
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
He won’t fight but he’ll draw stupid penalties. This was one of em

making flurey work harder than he need to

I think it’s more his lack of teeth that leads me to believe it. But in response to your question: I doubt it
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
I’m shocked that puck didn’t end up in the net just because it was old RJ Umberger in front with the attempt.
Kennedy with some slick moves. Too bad nothing came of it
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Columbus playing a perfect Ken Hitchcock boring hockey game. Gah.
I think if the Pens get 1 goal they will really break some floodgates open.
hey guys…..i have company so i won’t be chattin much tonight cause i’m watchin the game and watchin East Bound and Down……Go Pens
Hopefully your company is more entertaining than the Pens or else this is NOT an excused absence.
Enjoy.

Much to the credit of the announcers in Columbus, at least they pretend it’s interesting.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
All right. Well. This wasn’t any better than the first. Time to turn things around big time in the third.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
AT least Columbus is still 0-for-5 on the power play.
Right?
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Given evidence of how the Pens have played lately, this is going to be a lot of work
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Mason got popped.
And the stupid announcers are saying it’s all Malkin’s fault because he didn’t make an effort to stop. What do you expect when a guy is gunning toward the net? He was tripped up. F that.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
FWIW, Steiggy and Errey said the same thing.
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
With Errey’s obsession over people’s sticks, I definitely had to do a double take when I heard him talking about possibly “catching a tired Peca on the ice”.
Pittsburgh Black And Gold -- So new, it still smells like paint!
This team can score 2 more goals in 11 minutes…Let’s see if that gives them a kick.
Fedotenko, Staal, Kennedy, Talbot, Dupuis they’ve all been quiet. Very quiet.
It’s down to one. Herrrrrrrreeee theyyyyyyyy cooooommmmeeeee
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
YES!!
Seemingly half of the lower bowl is standing up wearing black/gold or baby blue screaming for the Pens.
I think a lot of people like him. They just want to see him do more
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
If Dupuis could finish the chances his legs earn him, he’d be a 40 goal scorer.
I agree with Frank, I think most fans like him, they just wish he was a little better at finishing.
If Dupuis picks up 40 goals I"d love to see what Sid and Malkin get…
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
i miss his great slop shot coming in on a rush. He doesn’t do it as much as i wish he would cause it looks real pretty when they go in. wooooooooooooooo we

True. Sid, Doop and Cooke looked good at one point this yr too
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
agreed but definitely not for long term
by penskorn6687 on Mar 12, 2009 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions
lol….but could u imagine the media and other fans jumping all over Sid if he did that? Not only would he be the biggest whiner, diver, etc…..he would be able to add “dirtiest player” to that list.
by penskorn6687 on Mar 12, 2009 9:26 PM EDT up reply actions
well the media sucks anyways. anyone who knows better takes what they say with a grain of salt and a shot of penicillin
i agree…….I’m just sick of ppl talkin about Sid. There are so many factors that contribute to why he plays the way he does, why he’s so vocal and why he’s the NHLs main promotional advocate. Maybe one day I’ll write about the things that i think contribute to Crosby’s reputation because I never hear anybody talking about the reasons that I would suggest. That’s for another day though.

i don’t agree with runnin the goalie twice in one game
by penskorn6687 on Mar 12, 2009 9:25 PM EDT up reply actions
Well that time he was blatantly pushed. No question about that one
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Columbus is praying to keep one point and Pitt is playing hard for two. That’s the difference here.

This arena right now reminds me of Rangers fans invading the Prudential Center in Jersey. New York chants drown out the Devils

One day I’m gonna be that Steeler fan who had a heart attack when Bettis fumbled against Indy.

I’ve already warned my girlfriend and various family members that I may tear up if the Pens win the Cup.

I almost cried in front of my fiancee when they LOST last season. I held it in, though. :p

Let’s see who stays out there for all of overtime tonight…
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Let’s look on the bright side. The streak is still a point streak and the Pens really earned that one tonight
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Yeah, but it wasn’t even one point until that third period surge. I don’t like it either, but I’ll take it
